Judiciary Committee Demands Barr Hands Over Trump Messages Related to Stone Sentencing
Source: The Daily Beast
The House Judiciary committee has demanded that Attorney General William Barr hands over any communications President Donald Trump sent relating to the sentencing of his longtime friend Roger Stone.
In a letter released Friday morning, committee chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler made the urgent request to Barr that he had over any information which may show "improper political interference, including by President Trump, in enforcement matters handled by the Department of Justice."
Nadler wrote that allegations of Trump's involvement in the softening of Stone's sentence earlier this month are "deeply troubling," and echoed back Barr's own words to him that Trump's unpredictable tweets about Department of Justice legal cases made his job "impossible."
The committee chairman demanded a full briefing concerning the "criminal and civil matters identified in this letter," as well as copies of any communications between Trump and White House officials related to the Stone case, among others.

(6,377 posts)It's a mistake to let your enemy rest. We need to give those that voted to acquit a second chance to make it right. A lot has happened since then. The Coronavirus may have altered the balance and interrupted their fear of Trump.
For Impeachment 2, we need to go after Barr as well Their world is disintegrating around them. We are more equipped to survive this economic apocalypse than they are. We're used to having nothing. They don't know how to work. Who's tougher? We are.
Get 'em, Nancy! Do it now!

(18,571 posts)The only criteria needed to classify anything related to Trump is if Trump wants to keep it secret.
Seems there should be a more restrictive standard.

(50,453 posts)Every agency of the government has an information security manual. They were all written by the CIA, which was traditionally the top rung of the intelligence ladder. These books are very clear on one thing: you will not classify anything merely to prevent embarrassment.
This is something Trump ignores with impunity because that fat fuck classifies shit for no other reason than he doesn't want anyone knowing how big a fuckup he is.
One extremely expensive part of the government's detrumpification program is going to be reviewing every single piece of classified information the government produced since 1/20/2017 to be sure it's even allowed to be classified.

(5,584 posts)Trump is surprisingly slippery when we think we have him cold, and Barr is a malevolent genius. I would venture that Barr dodged Trump's demands on Stone, or Trump was blocked from interfering by his staff, which is why Trump resorted to tweeting about it.

(15,192 posts)can we just send the House Sargent At Arms to either get the documents or bring Barr to the House in handcuffs?
That appears to be what all these Federalists Society jackboots are telling us.
BTW-if the next Democratic President Administration doesn't "purge" EVERY federal government employee who has even visited the Federalists Society website and declared them a terrorist organization, we'll miss an opportunity to save our country.
Retrumplicans have really made it easy.
President can use whatever power he wants.
Federalists Society jackboots should be relegated to preparing wills in Dumbfuckistan Murika trailer parks.
