N.C. high on list of community hospitals vulnerable to closing

Source: Winston-Salem Journal

About 30% of North Carolina's rural community hospitals, or 15 out of 50, are considered as vulnerable to closing because of potential financial shortfalls, according to a national study released last week.

The report from the Chicago-based Chartis Center for Rural Health listed six N.C. hospitals are "most vulnerable," while nine others are "at risk."

The nonprofit group did not identify the 453 rural community hospitals nationwide it lists as vulnerable. Officials could not be reached about the N.C. hospitals on its list.

North Carolina is one of 14 states, all Republican-led at the legislative level, that has not expanded Medicaid since the 2010 passage of the federal Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare," and the rollout in January 2014.

closing, he says it Obamacare caused it. I said Trump said three years ago health care was easy and he was going to
give us the best health care in the world for nothing, how can it be Obama's fault. He blamed the Democrats in
the House for not passing Trump's great healthcare plan. These people are unreachable.

That's why these hospitals are going out of business.

of those little hospitals in Danbury, NC when I first got out of the Army before I started college in 1981. I was a Pharmacy Technician. I also spent the summer between my Freshman and Sophomore in college working a pharmacy in one of Greensboro, NC major hospitals. After that summer job, I swore to never return to working in a Pharmacy. I am a product of and love rural America, and know how important these small community hospitals are. I hate to see them fade into history and financial ruin.

a two-tiered healthcare system, this is far from unexpected. The rich already have their own hospitals and doctors who, in some cases, have demonstrated the fact that they will only accept those who can afford it. Like most things here in the US, we are fed a tissue of lies to placate the masses while obfuscating the fact that they have what they need and we can go fuck off. (Of course, now that the 1% is so emboldened by the current socio-economic model we are in. they are not even trying to be obtuse anymore). Oh, and get back to work wage slave, those widgets won't make themselves! (And, if you think any of these corporate owners or their families are coming out of their house before this whole thing passes, think again. YOU won't have that choice if you want to survive in this piratical economy, but they can just sit in luxury and wait it out. Neat, eh?)
