Trump says 'I won't be changing my mind' on his view that brain injuries suffered by US troops

Trump says 'I won't be changing my mind' on his view that brain injuries suffered by US troops in Iran's attack are not very serious

President Donald Trump on Monday doubled down on his assertion that the injuries suffered by US troops during an Iranian missile attack on US forces are "not very serious."

Retaliating for the death of Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani at the hands of the US military, Iran fired over a dozen ballistic missiles at US and coalition forces in Iraq in early January. In the immediate aftermath, the president announced that "no Americans were harmed" and moved to de-escalate tensions.

Since then, the number of US troops diagnosed with mild traumatic brain injuries has steadily risen to 109, the Pentagon said on Monday.

Symptoms of a TBI can be slow to manifest and sometimes harder to detect than other injuries. The Department of Defense has offered this as an explanation for initial misreporting on injuries.

Trump launched the assassination attack without Putin's authorization and Putin wasn't too happy about it. Iran's response actually harmed American troops, which could have been used for justification for more attacks/escalation. But Putin doesn't want escalation right now. So Trump has to deny that any Americans were injured because otherwise there was no reason to back down if troops had been injured. So what you are seeing is Trump deny any troops were injured.

regarding Putin's likely involvement in this imbroglio! I'm sure that he conceded to a limited response by Iran in exchange for requiring them to then stand down until further notice. He doesn't want anything to disrupt his long term agenda for dramatically weakening the US by keeping Il Douche in office.

If the same had happened to Trump, he might not even notice since his brain has been damaged for years.

Brain injuries are nothing to mess with. Not so much bone spurs.

They are ONLY concussions.

The denial is partly to take the focus on his role in the situation.

Over 100 American soldiers have been treated for traumatic brain injuries following Iran’s missile strike on Al Asad Air Base in western Iraq. The strike came in retaliation for the killing of Qassim Suleimani, the Iranian Quds Force commander, which has become a rhetorical staple of President Trump’s re-election campaign.

At the time, most of the American reaction to the strike — which included about a dozen ballistic missiles, some carrying upward of 1,100 pounds of high explosives — was muted gratitude that it was limited, there were no American casualties, and there would be no spiral of escalation.

I think many of us were relieved it didn’t escalate further, but 109 brain injuries is a high price to pay for a poorly thought out assassination. Regardless of whether suleimani deserved it, these soldiers are collateral damage.

Trump's not going to get in that box.

From my layman's perspective:
TBI = concussion.
The repercussions (pun - LOL) from repeated TBIs are what the NFL is dealing with now. CTE.
