House Democrats ask Secret Service for details about its payments to Trump's company

Source: Washington Post

The House Oversight Committee on Wednesday asked the Secret Service to provide a full accounting of its payments to President Trump’s private company after The Washington Post revealed that the Secret Service had been charged as much as $650 per night for rooms at Trump clubs.

In a letter to the Secret Service, signed by Chair Carolyn B. Maloney (D-N.Y.) and member Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), the committee asked for records of payments to Trump properties, and copies of contracts between the Secret Service and Trump clubs.

Last week, The Post reported that the Secret Service had been charged nearly $400 and as much as $650 per night for rooms at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida, and charged $17,000 a month for a cottage that agents used at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. President Trump still owns his companies. These payments show he has an unprecedented — and largely hidden — business relationship with his own government.

Officials at President Trump’s company maintain that Trump and the firm do not profit when government officials stay at their properties.

until after the 2020 election. Good luck with that Steve-o!

So you will give the information to Congress kinda like your boss was going to turn over his tax returns and his health records?

Hey, when you are a failed business-fiend at the end of his rope after many failed attempts, (bankrupting a casino? Come on!) and you have a swarm of grifter spawn, taking over a county can be a good deal, until you bankrupt it, that is. Which is how the story goes it seems. We are being used like toilet paper by an expert manipulator who only acts as President, but the ulterior motives leak through that facade.

Get while the getting is good! Deals can be made more easily when you the USA as your personal clout. So much for the business-fiend over a politician spiel.

the majority of Americans do not know about this corruption or they know and just don't really care. I mentioned this to an acquaintance two weeks ago and this person was clueless about any of the money tRump and his crime family is ripping off from taxpayers.

I get so sick and tired of trying to inform the people who SHOULD already know this basic, public info accumulated over the past 3+ years. Americans are too apathetic and I blame social media and its self absorbed users more than anything for this change.

Although, I wonder if DU falls in the category of, "social media and its self absorbed users".

The number of people that get all of their "info", and ideas from Facebook is just appalling. No interest at all in watching an actual news program, or reading a real news site. They buy ever morsel of rethuglican or Russian propaganda as god's truth--hook, line, and sinker.

IF he becomes, or AFTER he doesn't become, the nominee, he should make slick, smart individual ads about the turd's crimes. Apparently we have REALLY short attention spans. One crime being how many millions the turd is shoving into his pockets, at the tax payers' expense. Americans recognize the super rich fleecing them, IF all the dots are connected for them.

Or ANY of the super PACs could make them.

Yes, we are all extremely concerned about women's control of their own bodies, equal rights for ALL, MAJOR wealth inequality, healthcare, global warming/climate change, environmental protection rollbacks, education incurred debt, ALL that legitimate "stuff".

But finding the rich man's hand in OUR pockets, taking OUR money for their own greedy purposes, then you have DONE US WRONG!!! And we then become the epitome of that "hell hath no fury as a scorned woman". (I use that phrase for illustrative purposes ONLY, not to imply that women are emotional and vindictive... they just usually tend to have a MUCH better grasp of the situation... )

But Americans should be slapped in the face with these ads, non-stop, every channel, since we/they can't be bothered with anything if it doesn't simultaneously "entertain" us/them. In the middle of all the "distraction" shows... reality shows, talent shows, game shows, sports games.

Our biggest problem is all the shiny objects that get dangled in front of the terminally ADD (attention deficit disorder) ill American public, in pursuit of corporate profits. And media companies' desperate need for a horse race, generating record media corporate profits.

Could it be that the REAL problem here is capitalism run AMOK? (Assisted by a fascist Putin puppet, cowardly republican treasonous traitors, and technology overload...)

Even for a so-called "normal" GOP POTUS this would be headlines (only the size of the type would be different).
