A Tennessee lawmaker has introduced an amendment to a resolution that would recognize CNN and the Washington Post as fake news that is part of the media wing of the Democratic party.
The amendment read: We recognize that fake news outlets suggest ideas without directly making accusations so that they can claim innocence from their ivory towers.
Republican state representative Micah Van Huss of Jonesboro introduced the measure Tuesday at the states capital. According to local station WREG, it amends a previous joint house resolution filed last month.
The resolution cites instances throughout 2019 in which the Post staff or CNN personalities referred to Donald Trumps supporters as a cult or cult-like.
It said: We condemn them for denigrating our citizens and implying that they are weak-minded followers instead of people exercising their rights that our veterans paid for with their blood...........................................

(12,712 posts)I would classify that imposter as a fake Representative, denigrating media and implying that it is up to a legislator to decide something like that, and...overlooking Faux News Network in the process. There is some secondary gain to games like this.
He is pushing it right up against free speech rights and that's probably the intention there. We know that for Trump, it is a tool he pulled out of the playbook propaganda tank.
Oh, and either attach something to "save the children/fetuses" or use an appeal to veterans who did not die in order that Fascist weenies could freely poison the well of information and discourse this country.
That said, I am not necessarily advocating for mass media here and I have my reasons, but that is about awareness, push back and counterpoint, not proclamations from partisan hacks.

Freedom of the press may be guaranteed in the Constitution. But a plurality of Republicans want to give President Trump the authority to close down certain news outlets, according to a new public opinion survey conducted by Ipsos and provided exclusively to The Daily Beast.
So that 43% of republicans would approve a democrat shutting down Fox news?

Maybe a Democratic legislative member should file an additional amendment to add Fox "News" and other media outlets to the same "fake news" definition and classify them as operatives for the Trump Party.
