Joe Walsh ends Republican primary challenge against Trump

Source: CNN

(CNN)Former US Rep. Joe Walsh is ending his uphill challenge against Donald Trump for the 2020 Republican presidential nomination, after suffering a crushing loss in the Iowa GOP caucuses in which he received only 1% of the vote.

"I am ending my candidacy for president of the United States," Walsh told CNN's John Berman on "New Day." "I got into this because I thought it was really important that there was a Republican -- a Republican -- out there every day calling out this president for how unfit he is."

Walsh, a conservative, said he will do whatever he can to stop Trump, including help any of the Democratic candidates get elected.

Trump "literally is the greatest threat to this country right now. Any Democrat would be better than Trump in the White House," he said.

You would think that Republican voters would take pause with the one who shouted "YOU LIE" at Obama, at the State of the Union address. The fact that he can only get 1% gives an idea of just how far and wide the group think has expanded in the Trump tribe.

I think that was Joe Wilson, and a year or so before Walsh served in congress. Though when Walsh was in congress I doubt there was much difference between the two. Walsh has grown a bit since then.

I always thought it was Walsh who said that and disrespected President Obama during the SOTU.
Thanks. I'd rather be accurate than right!

not. But Walsh does little else but LIE. He's just jealous of the fascist, "acting" pResident in the WH.

One race-baiting asshole who likes to call for violence wanting to go toe-to-toe with another race-baiting asshole who likes to call for violence. You would have thought there were a media market for that.

to make amends, but I just don't believe ANY Republican, no matter how much they despise Trump. They are STILL Republican.

So, while Rick Wilson, who gave us the likes of Connie Mack and championed Rudy Giuliani's run for NYC mayor, is heralded for speaking up and out, he is still a Republican.

All of them--George Conway and the Never Trumpers are not to be trusted. I just don't think they can because when it all boils down to is that they are still Republicans. They are still pledged to a party who's philosophy has failed over and over again.

That clown was my Rep. for a term.
He wound up being despised by many from his "base".
He's a publicly embarrassing dude. He's no Trump, but...

I will say one thing about Walsh. I believe that his disdain for Trump is genuine, and not just a bunch of shit stirring.
Otherwise, Walsh is a mope.

I know if I was a repub Id think twice about standing up in front of bullies and announcing my preference for someone else. Caucuses are known to yield different results from what youd get otherwise from the general population going out to vote. He might have made a more respectable showing in an election, though propbably still in the minority.
