Sen. Richard Shelby Excuses Trump's Criminal Acts As 'Political Statements'

Source: Crooks and Liars

Politics 1/19/20 9:32am Read time: 2 minute

It seems there is absolutely no level of open criminality that won't be excused by Trump's Republican enablers.

I guess it's asking too much of ABC This Week host George Stephanopoulos to remind Republican Alabama Senator Richard Shelby that it is actually illegal to solicit foreign interference in our elections here in the United States, as Trump has done time and time again.

Here's Shelby this Sunday pretending that Trump isn't involved up to his neck in the Ukrainian scandal, and excusing what Trump has done in public, asking everyone from Russia to China, to whoever to get involved in U.S. elections as just "political statements" and a "mistake."

Anyone think Shelby would be saying that this stuff just "happens all the time" if it was a Democrat flagrantly breaking the law as we've seen the Trump administration do since taking power?

Here's Shelby's blatant hypocrisy in the clip above via ABC:

Because you unethical bastards taking your marching orders from the Kremlin and your absolute lust of power, any other red-blooded American patriot in any other time period would be kicking your ass up one block and down the other for your treasonous behavior.

You'd be looking at a President Pelosi being sworn in and the lot of you being hauled before the Hague Tribunal. You've shamed your country and your family. RESIGN!

Different rules for repubs. and dems. Anything goes for this idiot in the WH. Shelby has always made me think he is not too bright, so maybe he is hanging onto his "job" for lack of any other prospects? Makes me wonder if they were all promised lucrative business deals (like Moscow Mitch's) when they visited Moscow on July 4th. Sooner or later, it will all come out.

This never garnered much media attention and has been referred to as a "trial balloon" to see how much attention it actually received. Seeing none, they are emboldened.

voters in Alabama that if they keep voting Shelby in, they had better start taking lessons in Russian. He will be doing what Moscow Mitch is doing, building a factory for Russians. I guess immigrants are A-OK as long as they are not brown. Russian Mafia types are in NY and Florida. Next will be Kentucky and Alabama. It will make things much easier when Vlad takes over the entire USA.

Shelby is a dangerous combination of senile and probably the most powerful politician in Alabama.

I do believe that he could get caught in bed with either a live boy or a dead woman and still get re-elected here.

"Shelby was initially a Democrat. In 1994, the day after the Republican Revolution in which the GOP gained the majority in Congress midway through President Bill Clinton's first term, Shelby switched party affiliations and became a Republican."

At 85, I wonder if you even remember The Constitution.

Some people are still sharp well into their "golden years." YOU, however are not one of them. Resign. NOW.
