Rep. Adam Schiff Shreds McConnell's 'Mockery' Of An Impeachment Trial With No Witnesses

Rep. Adam Schiff took apart Mitch McConnell's proposed "mockery" of an impeachment trial if the Senate allows it to proceed with no witnesses.

By Heather

House Intelligence Chair Rep. Adam Schiff laid out very plainly to ABC's George Stephanopoulos why Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will make a complete mockery of the impeachment trial if he does Trump's bidding and doesn't even allow for witnesses.

Stephanopoulos asked Schiff whether they may ask for Lev Parnas to testify, and whether or not they're concerned about Parnas being seen as credible or not given the fact that he's under indictment.

"Well, look, you know, it is the fact with many of the people surrounding the president that they end up indicted. These are the people that the president has chosen to work with, people like, you know, Michael Cohen, like Lev Parnas, like so many others, Paul Manafort," Schiff explained. "And these are people that do have information about the president's misconduct. But right now, George, we don't know what witnesses will be allowed and even if we'll be allowed witnesses."

Exactly. Trump's the one who chose to surround himself with criminals. Schiff went onto explain what public reaction would be if there was a courtroom trial that was allowed to be conducted in the manner these Republicans and McConnell are proposing.

come to distrust what the House was doing. That RW media would raise the narrative that the length of investigating was, at best, a show; at worst, a scam.

The pressure from most places was to "move forward."

An so the House did what it saw as a best time to do so.

We were told we were disloyal to Pelosi, that "she knows more than you," so "let's move on."

But it wasn't about Pelosi; it wasn't about the media PR ,or the complainers, or about "dragging out" a process that deserved a whole long, hard fight.

For those of us who wanted the House to release the Articles into a "constitutional arena," it was never about "let's move on."

It was about looking out for the Constitution.

This scam trial hides behind power to subvert the Constitution.

And that IS worth complaining about.

force Impeachment because Nancy Pelosi didn't want to.

With this crook, it's like you have to have a trial every month. In retrospect, it would have at least been good to censure him along the way. It would then be in the record. It would also serve as a " look, we've warned this schmuck 10 times" argument. As it is now, all his past crimes are swept under table.

Should we take odds? Which one comes in first?

1. Moscow Mitch finds a way to dismiss the whole thing-- Fat Donny claims victory and screams, "They exonerated me!"

2. Moscow Mitch finds a way to allow only the presentations and then quickly shuts the whole thing down without witnesses-- Fat Donny claims victory and screams, "They exonerated me!"

3. Moscow Mitch allows 1 witness each. Democrats choose John Bolton and whoops-- Trump claims executive privilege and Moscow Mitch puts up a pigeon. Fat Donny claims victory and screams, "They exonerated me!"

If only-- a group of GOP goopers who want to save the bedraggled remains of the party go to Fat Donny and tell him to resign.

Ha ha ha, I made a funny.

Bused in activists including Stone and John Walrus face Bolton. They forced Pelosi to rush it over and she was stuck, even though they also complained it wasn't fast enough. Too fast, not fast enough. Enough loud-mouthed minions who keep getting invited by the MSM to spew their crap, and the Dems more often than not, cave to the perceived "public opinion." We need to crank up our "outrage machine" about 50 decibels. It's time.
