Dershowitz says he's not taking money for work on Trump legal team

Attorney Alan Dershowitz said Friday night that he will not be pocketing any money for his work on President Trumps impeachment defense team.
During an appearance on "Anderson Cooper 360," the attorney said the details of his payment arrangement havent been discussed yet, but added, If I were to be paid, all the money would go to charity.
I will not take a single penny of payment that I would keep based on what Im doing, he said. Im doing this because I strongly believe in the Constitution. I strongly oppose the impeachment. I worry about the weaponization of impeachment, and it could be used in other cases.
But Im not part of the regular team that will be making strategic decisions and participating in questions about whether there should be witnesses or not, Dershowitz, a Harvard law professor who also opposed former President Clintons impeachment, also clarified. Thats going to be left to others.

(269 posts)Chump says he isn't taking a salary. And Douche Jr. talks about the sacrifices his family has made. When the fact is they are stealing more money now than at any precious time in their life.

(2,605 posts)Its all about the possible need of a Pardon. That massage at Epsteins place wasnt an old Russian lady. It was a fourteen year old girl. He do however keep his underwear on. They were around his ankles!

(6,477 posts)What a concept. One of the themes of "Reversal of Fortune" was that Dershowitz was soaking Claus Von Bulow on behalf of his poor clients, who would then receive pro bono representation through the money Von Bulow paid. Guess those days are over, supposing they ever were...
The whole "not getting paid" thing is clearly some means of corruption in the Trump orbit, as the way Kuschner and Ivanka Trump skirt the nepotism laws, and nobody says shit about the obvious flouting of legal statutes.

(4,490 posts)Tying himself to Trump again helps him out when it comes to Epstein questions. Maybe angle for a pardon if the Epstein stuff takes a bad turn for him, and ties him to Trump's tens of millions of cultish supporters.

(20,175 posts)And Trump has to include the fair market value of these gifts on his income statement. Bill Clinton's impeachment left him $16 Million in debt when he left the White House.

(3,051 posts)Dershowitz is a legal purist. He once said hed act as Hitlers lawyer and try to get him acquitted and if he succeeded, hed then kill him personally.
This is no different.
From a purist lawyers perspective, there are issues with the indictment from the House, particularly the contempt of Congress charge.
So this doesnt surprise me.
