Using stark us vs. them language, President Donald Trump and his reelection campaign have begun framing his impeachment not as a judgment on his conduct but as a referendum on how Democrats regard him and his supporters.

I would have to ask myself when he says "us vs. them" ...... Does he mean Putin and him vs. the American People and our Constitution?

(5,234 posts)has to manufacture a "them". Time for "us" to tell his base that they're fos and always have been. Stupidity and idiocy shouldn't be rewarded any more.

Let's hope that what he winds up doing is to rev up support for impeachment and removal from office. His supporters must be having a hard time continuously defending his demented carnival-barker performances. That and his endless attempts to reach into their pockets for support must be burdensome.
Let's hope the novelty of a mafia-clown for the serious job of POTUS is wearing thin.

(12,547 posts)propaganda that makes them the eternal victims. They jabber about 63 million voters have their votes taken away, but never mention the 70 million who voted for someone other than "The Siberian Candidate," with a three million advantage to Hillary. And Trump's campaign violated the law to steal the White House. The masters of projection and feigned outrage designed in accordance with the Machiavelli instruction manual.

Pick a side. America. Or Trump.
Add to that. Rule of law. Or rule by Russian Oligarchs. U.S. Constitution. Or Dictatorship.
It really is that simple, that plain, clear as day once anyone sees it and chooses to think for a minute.
Trumpers are still blaming 17 Angry Democrats, and say he had no opportunity to defend himself.
Well here's his chance.

(19,204 posts)They're a closed set. They're certainly not going to gain any new members, so how much "revving" do they need? These deplorable nit-wits are going to vote for Trump no matter what. Nothing will keep them from going to the polls and voting for their savior, the most detestable man in America, just because he represents everything they love. Fine. We're not going to convert a single one of them, but there aren't enough of them to re-select him as president. We have to keep foreign interference to a minimum, because it's foolish to think we'll stem it altogether. We have to stop, as much as is possible, republicans from disenfranchising Democratic voters. We have to keep Democrats united around our eventual candidate, and not fall for any third party "backlash" crap. If we can do those three things Trump doesn't stand a chance. NOT A CHANCE.

(17,960 posts)they'd come up with something else to rile their perpetually angry base, even it it were made up from whole cloth. The perpetually angry set are useful tools for IQ45, Putin and anyone else bent on creating a fascist kleptocracy in America. Sucks to be a tool, but tools haven't the sense to know they suck.

Besides that, the numbers are dwindling daily, and NO NEW SUPPORTERS are replacing them.

(12 posts)The planning has been in the works for months. As soon as he is acquitted by the Senate, the attacks will begin. His "innocence" will be trumpeted to the heavens, and no one who opposed him will be immune. It's gonna be ugly.

(2,752 posts)of the "War on Christmas." Now I realize it was one of many tactics to make us "other," and maybe dangerously so to their viewers. The various culture war attacks, the fear mongering about immigrants and Black Lives Matter and so forth, all that was to create and increase tribal loyalty.
Now they believe liberals are out to destroy everything they value, and that we hate them. Rush is quick to tell them that we despise them.
Between that and the work Fox has done to convince them of liberal media bias and to not trust any media sources that aren't in the closed RW media system, they are not persuadable at all.
BUT, there are others who are not full-blown Fauxies. They may be family members or friends. They tend to believe what their circle believes, but they aren't hard core.
The more demagoguery Trump and others do, the more they are likely to find their own attitudes hardening. The more we despise them, the more that plays into Trump's and GOP hands.
I don't despise them myself because I'm very aware of the systematic propaganda that brought them to where they are, the "facts" they believe because RW billionaires have funded scholarships, academic chairs, "research," think tanks, well-groomed pundits / "experts" to convince them they are the reasonable ones. I am sad for them, but I despise the oligarchs and their ideological minions who set out to manipulate them.
A few former right-wingers have seen the light. I think it can happen for others. But the hatred I often read online, including here, makes it harder.
