Justice Ginsburg taken ill, absent from Supreme Court

Source: NBC News

WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was absent Wednesday for courtroom arguments in two cases.

Chief Justice John Roberts announced that Ginsburg was "indisposed due to illness," a statement similar to the one he made on the first day of the term, Oct. 7, when Justice Clarence Thomas was absent with what a court official said was the flu.

The same court official said Wednesday that Ginsburg was "home with a stomach bug."

The health of Ginsburg, 86, has been the subject of intense interest since she underwent surgery last winter for lung cancer and treatment over the summer for a cancerous tumor on her pancreas.

not now! Of course my first concern is for her health. She's a wonderful woman and even if she wasn't a SC Justice I'd want her to have the best of health. That said, we can't allow the GOP to install yet another SC Judge!

If she goes before then they will try to force another one through, even possibly in the recess between the election and the new congress. I hate to reduce it to that. She is a treasure. But that is the harsh reality.

It's difficult to think in those stark terms, but the Supreme Court has already been the object of republican dumbfuckery and we can't allow it to go any further.

My first, FIRST thought upon reading this was "please please let there be trusted guards by her side". With Putin and our collaborator in chief running things I'm staring to get a touch of paranoia lately about the health of our more prominent Patriots.

after refusing to do so for Obamas last pick before the 2016 elections then the gloves need to come off and when we regain the the majority we need to increase the number of SCOTUS seats up to 13 and pack each new slot with liberal justices.

For one it’ll gin up their nutjob evangelical base for the election which will help Donnie and other GOO candidates.

Two, they have the votes to do it. Beyond that, It’s likely they will at least explore installing a new justice in the recess between the election and the new congress if Trump were to lose. She’s going to need to hang on for a while, I think. At least another 13-15 months.

I’m fighting it, too. Hope she comes through it ok. It’s a persistent little bugger.
