Trump vows 'no more' federal aid to California as devastating wildfires continue to burn

Source: independent

'You don’t believe in climate change. You are excused from this conversation,' state's governor tells Trump

Vincent Wood 1 hour ago

Donald Trump has threatened to cut off emergency funding to California as wildfires rage across the state, telling governor Gavin Newsom to “get his act together”.

In his latest attack on the state he returned to old complaints of forest management, including recommending better cleaning of the forest floors, as he first did in 2018.

However California's governor was quick to highlight the role of the environmental crisis in spreading the fires. In response to the president, Mr Newsom tweeted: "You don’t believe in climate change. You are excused from this conversation."

More than 198,000 acres of land has been destroyed across the region this year, with fires forcing people to flee their homes as 115 structures are razed to the ground in the last ten days alone.

Hunter and his wife were under indictment for campaign finance violations, his wife has already pleaded guilty, and pending any resolution, all of his Committee assignments have been taken away. So his is essentially a zombie taking up a seat in the Congressional chamber.

Nunes was certainly one that needed to go but at least it was good to have seen the original source of the Russian infestation within Congress - Dana Rohrabacher - lose his seat... and his replacement, Harley Rouda (D), has been really active in the media because I have seen him numerous times on MSNBC!

Dear @realDonaldTrump: Your federal agencies own the majority of the forest land in CA. Our state only owns about 3%. So when you allege a "terrible job" you are actually referring to yourself. Also, the causes of the fires vary. Please educate yourself.#SundayMorning Thoughts

if our federal aid is cut off we should not have to give our tax money to the federal government anymore. This is so cruel. Our tax dollars fund Republican states for disasters plus. And Donald cut monies that helped make our Federal land safe.

If we put that money into California taxes that just benefit California we could survive without the fool.

I just had to evacuate last week because of the Kincade fire...that was PG&E's fault. It has been very stressful.

He doesn't like CA because it didn't vote for him and because he never got to be a big shot in Hollywood, so he says he's not going to let them have emergency disaster relief funds. But he doesn't get to just decide on his own that he won't give the state any money; the process goes through FEMA, and FEMA makes a recommendation after a review of the state's detailed request. If Dolt 45 decides to ignore FEMA's recommendation, the state can appeal. https://www.fema.gov/disaster-declaration-process And it will make him look like the vindictive douche that he is. And what if thousands of people - maybe including thousands of Republicans - decide to leave CA because it keeps catching on fire and Trump won't help? What if those people move to another state and vote against him in that state because they've finally figured out that he's a vindictive douche?

What about California's economy? Only the United States (as a whole), China, Japan, and Germany have larger economies than California. If he thinks he needs a good national economy to assure re-election, why would he risk fucking up the largest one in the country?

Because he's a vindictive douche, that's why, and stupid as well.
