Ex-SS Guard: I Saw People Led into Gas Chamber

Source: Associated Press

BERLIN (AP) -- A 93-year-old former guard at the Nazis' Stutthof concentration camp testified at his trial Friday that he once saw people being led into the gas chamber, followed by screaming and banging sounds behind the locked door.

Bruno Dey, a former SS private, went on trial Oct. 17 at the Hamburg state court. He faces 5,230 counts of accessory to murder for killings while he was at Stutthof from 1944 to 1945.

Asked Friday by the presiding judge what exactly he saw from his sentry's watchtower, Dey replied: "That people were led in, into the gas chamber, that the door was locked," news agency dpa reported.

He said he heard screams and banging shortly after, but added: "I didn't know that they were being gassed. Dey said that about 20 or 30 prisoners were led in, and that they didn't resist. He said he couldn't say whether they were men or women, because their heads were shaved, or whether they were Jews or other prisoners. And he also couldn't say what happened afterward. "I didn't see anyone come out," he said...

- Nazi Stutthof concentration camp in Poland, 1941. Before its liberation in April 1945, some 65,000 people were murdered at the camp, 70% of them Jews.

#

- American Judy Meisel who escaped from Stutthof concentration camp as a child.

Judy Meisel is one of the 20 co-plaintiffs in the case against Dey. She witnessed the atrocities carried out by the Germans in Stutthof. Together with her mother and her sister Rachel, she was sent to the concentration camp from her native Lithuania in 1941 after Hitler's forces invaded. "Her mother was murdered in the gas chamber," Meisel's grandson Benjamin Cohen told CBS News on Thursday after watching the trial begin. "They were tortured, her hair was ripped out by two SS men when they arrived at the camp. It was total brutality."

- Meisel is now an American citizen and lives in Minnesota. She couldn't travel to Germany for the trial for health reasons.

She and her sister both managed to escape from Stutthof. Her grandson has vowed to tell her story, and he hopes to hear Bruno Dey's side of the story, too, to get an answer to the question his grandmother has longed for. "How could they do this? How could someone be a part of that?" he said. "Her lesson is the power of the human spirit, to come out of it not hateful and not looking for revenge."

and if we can't then Mother Nature can take care of matters, so it seems with climate change.

Kurds know about this, hence their fear of Turkey.

I think even Kim Kardashian could school the Donald about this event.

of race, religion and ethnicity. If we can't work together for a better world then we're a really sorry species IMO. And Mother Nature will likely take care of matters for us.

In the meantime the new Nazis must be stopped.

Some deny the holocaust... Some brag about it.

America fought a war against the Nazis and supposedly won.

Yet here they are in Charlottesville marching to "take back America".

KKK Conservative boasting:

“We killed six million Jews the last time,” he answered. “Eleven million is nothing.”

Which camps were they headed for I wonder, to Auschwitz from Hungary? In the final weeks and months of the war panicked Nazi SS were moving prisoners around and escalating deaths in the camps, monsters..

In March of 45. The Soviets liberated the camp in January of that year. Buchenwald or Dachau perhaps if the train was stopped by Americans.
