Trump warns U.S. 'may have to get in wars'

Source: Politico

The president specifically threatens to hit Iran "like they've never been hit before" if the regime provokes Washington.
Donald Trump

Updated: 10/21/2019 03:19 PM EDT

President Donald Trump on Monday offered a confusing description of his foreign policy priorities as commander in chief — insisting that he is working to bring home American soldiers, while warning the U.S. may soon enter into new military conflicts.

“I'm trying to get out of wars. We may have to get in wars, too. OK? We may have to get in wars,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

“We're better prepared than we've ever been,” he continued. “If Iran does something, they'll be hit like they've never been hit before. I mean, we have things that we're looking at.”

Trump in recent days has sought to promote a temporary cease-fire agreement Vice President Mike Pence negotiated last week with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, aimed at halting the slaughter of U.S.-allied Kurdish fighters in Syria by Turkish forces.
..........................................

The more than 700 evacuated U.S. soldiers will be relocated to western Iraq, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said Saturday, although new media reports indicate Trump is considering keeping a few hundred soldiers in northeastern Syria to counter advances by Syrian and Russian forces into the country's lucrative oil fields.

Esper also announced earlier this month that the administration would be deploying another wave of troops to Saudi Arabia to help protect the kingdom from Iran’s regime, despite Trump’s campaign trail pledge to halt U.S. involvement in “endless wars.” .........................................

This maniac is liable to do anything to try and distract everyone from the impending impeachment. Is it shocking he's taking about war now? Nope. He has been dying to nuke someone from day 1. It would be the number one bullet point on his resume...the ultimate fascist show of power. God he can't be gone fast enough.

fighting the good fight against the resolution to give any president current or in the future the power to declare war with any country as long as it could be tied to fighting terrorism. I remember being moved to tears by his words. He was so right. “Might as well put a sign over congress: out of business!”

Hayes asks Sarandon if she would vote for Trump if it came to a Trump vs. Clinton showdown in the general election. Sarandon acknowledges that, though Sanders would probably urge his supporters to vote for Clinton, a lot of Sanders supporters "just can't bring [themselves] to do that."

She dodged the question. Sarandon supported Trump.

Trump will do anything - ANYTHING - to stay in power. Most authoritarian "strongmen" would do the same, or worse. Playing on simple minded Americans who believe you must support the president in war time is a page out of the republican playbook. It worked for "W" and Trump probably believes it will work for him as well.

The difference here is if Trump is removed from office or is allowed to remain in power after being impeached. If he's allowed to stay in office he will do anything to win the 2020 election. ANYTHING! Waging war and sacrificing the lives of American service men and women wouldn't bother him in the slightest. He believes he's owed another term, no matter what the cost in blood or treasure.

For distraction to protect his puppet. Trumps not doing anything without putins approval. When it's all exposed he is compromised by Putin , and all the republicans who helped promote his lies, helped him be lawless, and we're corrupted by trump and Putin will pay dearly for a long , long time from the American people. Putins stealing billions from the Russian people will also come to an end with Putin being ousted for all his corruption and greed.

...fake progressives who adore Tulsi and Trump Cultists, all of whom were exulting about Dump getting us out of Syria and “ending” the US’s involvement in Middle East wars. They’ve been punked twice now in 2 days. Dump doesn’t want us out of wars in the region. He just wants his own BIGLY new war, not other presidents’ sloppy seconds.

My post title is

This is a rambling version of "We'll see what happens." He has no clue. He is trying to play multiple roles for his audience. Tough guy, lover of the military, and genius. He is trapped in a "reality" show of his own creation but the other actors won't follow his script.

Oil seems to be one thing he has noticed and not the human costs of his actions which should be a driving factor. Arrgh.

I am afraid that he will cause WWIII, not so much as a distraction, but through his ignorance and vanity.

He needs to go!

Days ago he was justifying getting out of Turkey's way into Syria because he didn't think we should be in all these "endless wars" we are always fighting. Now we may have to get into more wars?

die, resign or get ousted from office soon, a war somewhere in the world will be initiated shortly prior to the 2020 Presidential election and will be used by Trump and complicit Republicans as a hyper-patriotic, "rally around the flag", and "don't change horses midstream" tactic, up to and including cancelling elections. Of course, he is so fucking dangerous, unbalanced and trigger-happy that he could start a war anytime and not wait until the election.

A 12-year-old of average intelligence could have phrased it better -- perhaps e.g., "engage in warfare."

And he repeated it, no less.

But he has the best words.
