Amid Trump anger about leaks, O'Brien to slash National Security Council staff by almost half

Source: CNN

President Donald Trump's new national security adviser Robert O'Brien told White House staff today he will slash the National Security Council staff by nearly half and increase the percentage of political appointees in the process, sources tell CNN.

O'Brien, who has been on the job for less than two months, hosted an all-staff NSC meeting Thursday afternoon spoke with outside allies of the Trump White House to announce the cuts, two sources familiar with the meeting explained.

The newly minted national security adviser told White House staffers and outside allies that he plans to shrink the NSC staff by about 50% by early 2020, reducing total staff numbers through attrition from around 200 people now to a total staff of about 120.

O'Brien said the shift would increase the percentage of political appointees compared to experts from the government agencies who normally fill the bulk of roles at the NSC, which is widely seen as the brains behind White House foreign policy making.

I worked for this temp agency back in the 70s and 80s out of desperation when I was looking for a real job. It was actually good experience and I didn't have those dead spaces on my resume, but the pay scale was awful.

I mean - what could go wrong, amiright?

Not to save money.
Not to acquire people with new skills.
But for wing-nut welfare.

I suspect the real goal here is to get rid of staffers they suspect might be talking to the press.

If 20/200, 1/10, are political appointments, and it's reduced to a total of 120 and the pol. appointees are kept, then the political folk are 20/120, 1/6.

Big increase in composition without any more political appointees.

They *may* add political appointees, but I didn't get that from the OP.

by telling us the truth, instead of what Donnie-2-scoops wants to hear.

Political commissar or political officer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the military, a political commissar or political officer (or politruk, a portmanteau from Russian: политический руководитель, pronounced politicheskiy rukovoditel, traslated "political leader", "political official&quot , is a supervisory officer responsible for the political education (ideology) and organization of the unit they are assigned to, and intended to ensure civilian control of the military.

The function first appeared as commissaire politique (political commissioner) or représentant en mission (representative on mission) in the French Revolutionary Army during the Revolution (1789–99).[1] It also existed, with interruptions, in the Soviet Red Army from 1918 to 1942, as well as in the armed forces of Nazi Germany from 1943 to 1945 as Nationalsozialistischer Führungsoffiziere (national-socialist leadership officers). The function remains in use in China's People's Liberation Army.

If Trump or Pence or any Republican wins, this will continue. Until ALL staff are true believers. ie...sworn to an oath of party over country. That the only important thing is winning the WH back for whomever is the candidate, and supporting blindly whomever is the candidate if they win. And if its Trump.......

If they truly knew where the breach came from, then they would have paraded it/the arrest/whatever out in full public view, accusing them of being undercover democrats, etc., etc., etc.
