Key Republicans split with Trump on Biden investigation push

Source: Hill

BY ALEXANDER BOLTON - 10/06/19 06:00 AM EDT

President Trump is pushing hard for an investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, but the prospect of using the Oval Office to go after a political rival is prompting some GOP senators to speak out.

Sens. Mitt Romney (Utah), Susan Collins (Maine), Ben Sasse (Neb.) and Lindsey Graham (S.C.) have raised concerns, to varying degrees, about launching a politically motivated probe into the Bidens

Romney on Friday said Trump's call for China to investigate Biden was "wrong and appalling. "When the only American citizen President Trump singles out for China’s investigation is his political opponent in the midst of the Democratic nomination process, it strains credulity to suggest that it is anything other than politically motivated," Romney said in a statement, which he also tweeted.

A day later, Collins said it was "completely inappropriate" for Trump to urge China to investigate Biden and his son. "I thought the president made a big mistake by asking China to get involved in investigating a political opponent," Collins told the Bangor Daily News. "It’s completely inappropriate."

No, what I suspect is that this is about him hedging his bets to use it to try and survive the coming blue tsunami that he knows is about to hit.

in order to "walk back" his comments with some nonsense like "...but if the 'facts' suggest otherwise, we will certainly look into it"... because that is what he does.

"his political opponent"...Biden has not won the nomination yet, and we don't know if he will.

I have that feeling one gets when in a room and you know there is something not right, you want to get out, and all this attention on Biden by the republicans make me uneasy, it is almost as if they want the Democrats to say "hey, they are afraid of Biden, we should nominate Biden", maybe they are more afraid of someone else and they are pretending?

He has used his position, without top security clearance, to gain favor with the Saudis. He managed to get his family "out from under" that very expensive mortgage for 666 Park Ave. The family was close to bankruptcy, then Jarred came into his position, and all is now well. Plus his family members were hawking special US Visas for investing $500,000 in their company. There is a person who bears investigating.

of securing the Democratic nomination and they are pretty sure the Democratic nominee will be elected. Wall Street and Main Street are not nearly as afraid of Joe Biden as they are of folks like Bernie, Warren, Beto and Harris.

This must be freaking Trump the fuck out. Knowing that the people who line his pocket have already written him off and are trying to get a seat at the table of the Democratic nomination process. No wonder Trump wants Biden out of the picture. Joe Biden is just so not scary.

investigate the Bidens. It's AGAINST THE LAW. We have a criminal in the White House! So what are you going to DO about it. Keep it up and you will surely lose your seat in the Senate. That's a place only HONORABLE people should occupy.

None of the people listed in this article have the conviction of their words.
When push comes to shove all of them will back track as fast as a rabbit chased by a wolf,
with Collins expressing her "concern" about this but with no intent to do anything but be concerned.
There is not a pair of cojones among all of them.
