Scoop: Trump letter dares Pelosi to hold vote on impeachment inquiry

Source: Axios

The White House is planning to send Speaker Nancy Pelosi a letter as soon as Friday arguing that President Trump and his team can ignore lawmakers' demands until she holds a full House vote formally approving an impeachment inquiry, 2 sources familiar with the letter tell Axios.

Why it matters: By putting in writing the case that Trump and his supporters have been making verbally for days, the White House is preparing for a court fight and arguing to the public that its resistance to Congress' requests is justified.

Trump wants to force House Democrats in vulnerable races to be on the record if they favor pursuing impeachment, these sources tell us.

Republicans also say the minority party can exert more influence over hearings and other aspects of an inquiry once it is formalized with a vote.

Axios also reports that the letter hasn't been finalized or signed as of this evening. Several WH lawyers have been working on the language of the letter, since they expect this to end up in court.

does that make sense. No one, not even Trump, knows what color the sky is in his world. I imagine it's gold since everything he owns and covets seems to be of that color.

and he also met his private intimidation goals. There is much more to this phone call than we know and the other call and meeting notes he has stashed in that safe. That safe needs to be pried open.

They believe they can ignore any subpoenas at this point. Anything to slow it down and keep the public in ignorance of what they’ve been up to.

This winter for sure. At this point I don't see any "political" reason why the full House can't go on record calling for an impeachment inquiry now. The compelling reasons for at least investigating have only become more compelling over the last few days. It no longer is such a long limb for any Democrat to climb out onto to vote for an investigation. The final vote will be looming either way.

20. It's aimed at the courts......

There are multiple battles in the courts to force the wh to turn over docs, like trumps taxes, phone transcripts, emails, grand jury testimony, etc.

Te wh is claiming they don't have to comply because the congress doesn't have a right to it. bs of course, but that is there argument.

The bs about giving republicans more control over impeachment inquiries is bs also. That's what they just tried with the letter to pelosi. Didn't work then, won't work later.
