Top Dem says AG Barr is endangering relationships with key U.S. allies

Source: NBC News

Attorney General William Barr is harming America's relationships with its closest allies by pressuring them to produce intelligence about the Russia investigation in an effort to help President Trump politically, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee charged Thursday in an exclusive interview with NBC News.

"U.S. intelligence leaders have expressed their concerns to me privately on this," said Warner, who is committee vice chairman. "This idea that Australia's intelligence product might be being used to go after a political opponent in domestic American politics… That's just not what the intelligence community is about."

The senator said he is particularly worried about the foreign requests and their impact on an intelligence sharing pact known as the Five Eyes, which includes the U,S. Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand. Those countries cooperate extremely closely, sharing communications intercepts and other intelligence.

Hope it doesn't get lost in the blizzard of breaking news.

Barr is toxic and in some ways more dangerous than Trump. Mark Warner is the right man to raise this issue.

You just reminded me to donate to Warner's reelection campaign. He has done excellent work on "the Russia thing" from Day 1. I remember him saying in some TV interview that he considered it the most important thing he'd ever done, and I think he's probably right.

Intelligence agencies are close and support each other.
Trump will be seen as an enemy to the decades of cooperation we have had with Australia. They would rather see him go than see that close cooperation be trashed in a partisan "witch hunt".

Especially now that Trump's desire to manufacture something out of nothing has been exposed for all the world to see. None of the other European countries west of Hungry like the Orange moran or his henchmen much either for that matter.

Everyone and every country knows what Trump is attempting to do and knows it's bullshit just like him.

He now looks like an total idiot for even trying.

it would be nice if even one of these countries filed a formal complaint about Barr's meddling to manufacture evidence.
