'I thought it was dead': Donald Trump says he thought he had escaped impeachment after Mueller repor
Source: USA Today
NEW YORK A somber President Donald Trump said Wednesday he thought he had avoided impeachment after special counsel Robert Mueller concluded his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
"I thought we won," Trump said during a news conference at the United Nations. "I thought it was dead."
Trump, speaking at the close of three days of meetings at the U.N., lashed out at Democrats and the media over the fallout of revelations that he pressed Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a political rival.
Calling Trump's actions with regard to Ukraine an abuse of power and a betrayal of his oath of office, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Tuesday announced the formal launch of an impeachment inquiry of Trump.

He is definitely dumber than Dan Quayle was.

(1,979 posts)I think there is something to the thought that the soul of the body that does evil in some ways wants to be caught, to be stopped. Even if they literally get away with murder, they will continue to test fate until they are caught and punished. Think OJ - literally got away with murder but continued his lawlessness until he went far enough to get punishment that will be a tiny beginning of what is owed.

(5,801 posts)clearly red don can't stop himself. Just as he ended up going bankrupt multiple times because he could not stop buying and building, he can't stop being lawless even in the White House.
He will keep going until he is stopped. Hence the necessity of impeachment.

(5,813 posts)Investigation, he figured he was safe because that is how things usually work out for him. But he failed to realize the world he is in now is a completely different game. So for a guy used to winning (most of the time and avoiding nasty consequences) this turn of events might surprise him. I predict a rough time for him over the next few months. I hope it is the roughest thing he has ever endured.

Truth is, he never really understood the game.

Little did he know that there is a mole sitting to his left. Who wants to bet it is Ivanka? She probably thinks she can get the nomination to be the 1st female president, now that Daddy is out of the way. There is no honor among thieves.
