GOP senators are 'stunned' at the transcript -- and think Trump is putting himself in more jeopardy

Source: Raw Story

The White House has tried to get ahead of the exploding scandal about President Donald Trump pressuring the president of Ukraine to dig up dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden by releasing a batch of notes taken from the call. But the notes in fact confirm Trump demanded an investigation of Biden, implicate Attorney General William Barr in the scheme, and even show the Ukrainian President tried to flatter him by bringing up his stays in Trump Tower.

The transcript was, in fact, so legally and politically damaging for the president that — according to Washington Post reporter Robert Costa — pro-Trump Senate Republicans were completely blindsided, and have no idea where to go from here:

they can be counted on to look out after their own interests. If Trump is seen as a major liability for 2020, they can decide to send a committee to the White House to ask him to resign, and failing that, they can publicly call for his resignation and cheer on impeachment efforts in the House.

The downside is not that bad for them, they end up with Pence as president for another year, and after Trump, he's going to seem almost normal to the swing voters.

We'll know more when we know the identity of the whistleblower.

dealing with Trump has not been easy. He'd have a way easier time dealing with Pence.

But, if Trump's out, then a primary battle is underway, and I have no doubts that Romney would throw his hat in the ring the day after Trump's pardon. Then it becomes a battle for the money people over the fundies in the GOP.

It would also change the fundamentals of our nomination contest, too.

Pence hasn't tweeted in almost a day.

He's the one who met and spoke repeatedly with Zelensky from April through September 18th, 2019.

Transcript mentions Barr to meet with Zelensky on behalf of 45. Barr acts blindsided today about those revelations.

Yet, and yet, no mention of Pence's interactions on behalf of 45 with Zelensky in the "official" transcript.

Hmmm. Strange coincidences don't you agree?

The tRumphumpers will primary them out. This is Teaparty 2.0.

If they do anything that displeases the fuhrer they know they will loose that chunk of their constituency that has gone full on brown shirt. The count on those who don't support Trump, but don't want anyone from the Democratic Party either to keep them in. Without the Trumphumpers they know they're out. They stay loyal, and even if he goes down, they may still keep their seat..

It's all about holding onto power for the vast majority of them.

before they try it, that's for sure.

If enough Trumphumpers see this Ukrainian thing as a dealbreaker, then their support of Trump will drop, and that's when the GOP'ers in the Senate will make their move. However, I have doubts that the deplorables will see it that way. Ukraine is far away (most couldn't find it on a globe) and if it was about dishing up dirt on Biden, then it was justified. They didn't mind Wikileaks helping Trump beat Hillary, even though they despised Edward Snowden.

Lets just get that straight first off. Its so awful that that part is just glossed over these days. That these stories do now even have to be prefaced with how corrupt and anti-Constitutional the R Party has become. It is just presumed. And the fact that most of them most likely would endorse those actions, if kept secret, if it meant getting a leg up on Biden, and increasing Republican chances in 2020.

Barr is the new focus of this mega scandal....Barr would gladly obstruct justice on drumpfs behalf

drumpf used to scream; "NO COLLUSION !!" -- now he's like; "Yeah, I did it - so what ?" -- as if to underscore how completely above the law he believes he is after Barr and the whole GOP let him off the hook for the Mueller report.

And now Trump's actions absolutely confirm the worst conclusions that Mueller came to about his conduct since before the 2016 election.
Trump thinks he can get away with ANYTHING.

Impeachment hangs the ugly title of impeached president on Trump. It also forces McConnell to take the vote to the senate floor. Which will identify every GOP cult follower.

Trump, Barr, Giuliani, Pompeo et al - pretty ominous when you have people so dishonest that their clocks aren't even correct twice/day..

What evidence actually shows is the Ukrainians actually looked into this, terminated the investigation and found nothing there.

The notes of the call between Trump and the Ukrainian president reveal that beyond asking for dirt on Joe Biden, Trump also pressed for information about a conspiracy theory designed to exonerate Russia's role in hacking the DNC.
