Black transgender woman Bee Love Slater found burned to death in Florida

Source: CBS News

The body of a black transgender woman was recovered from a torched car in Clewiston, Florida, last week. According to the Human Rights Campaign, Bee Love Slater is the 18th transgender woman to be killed in 2019.

Hendry County investigators identified 23-year-old Slater several days after recovering her body from her burned vehicle, CBS Fort Myers affiliate WINK reports. Captain Susan Harelle said the body was burned beyond recognition.

The investigation is ongoing and the Sheriff's Office said it could not be confirmed as a hate crime until a clear motive is found. But Love's best friend, Kenard Wade, said Slater was targeted as a member of the LGBTQ community.

''She had a really, really good heart," Wade told Wink. "She would never harm anyone, never put anyone in harm's way. How could someone go to that extreme to get rid of her?"

the media needs to focus on this more.

the media gives wayyy more attention to right wingers and their lies about lgbt. especially transgender people and lies about how they are a threat.

but it's THEM who are being killed in horrific ways.

... the media doesn't cover this story... but maybe if they all were more like Natalie Holloway? (by the way, I'm happy for the media attention her case got... just wishing for some for these women, too).

You know it wasn't Hispanics who did this, nor was it AfAm's, so who do you suppose did this? I'm guessing young white males who hate anyone and everything that's not THEM.

In all likelihood the murderer was probably someone previously known to the victim. Are you really saying Hispanics and Black people never commit acts of violence against LGBT victims?

12. For all those speculating about the "young white men" who surely perpetrated this vile act...

You mean like the mob of young white males who beat Muhlaysia Booker in the middle of a street in broad daylight? Oh wait...

Or how about the young white man who was arrested for her murder? Oops...

Given the above and that most murder victims are killed by someone of their own race, a lot of people are making a lot of assumptions on this thread.

16. I'd imagine a discussion board is the perfect place to, well... k'now, engage in benign speculation.

But I get it... ignoring it as benign and lacking any real consequence, and instead giving it undo warrant can really assist in affecting more efficient sanctimony.

I am numb from the inhumanity and cruelty and hate.

What has the world come to?

May the victim's soul rest in peace.
