This particular song - and I remember it clearly - I was in the gym bleachers watching the pom-pom girls from my school at the homecoming assembly my Junior year. I was, oh, maybe 16-17? I was a cheerleader and we had just finished our little show lol.
I remember it all like it was yesterday - I can still see the routine and remember this song being a part of it. I'm 52 now. Behold, the power of music. RIP, Eddie.
on edit: the RIP I meant to post

(2,959 posts)had a steady stream of his clients from his former avocation visiting us in the middle of the night every few days. WE knew Eddy when he was just getting started, saw him go from playing at CAL Frats to Arenas. When he was sober he was a hell of a guy. He wasn't too bad when he was stoned. RiP

(2,959 posts)ours was 225/mo for a two bedroom upper floor of a duplex in Oakland's Rockridge (affluent) District. It was a great apartment even though we discovered parts were about to collapse, in a wonderful neighborhood.
The people who bought it and evicted us dumped a lot of money, but refurbished rather than remodeled so they ended up with a nice craftsman duplex they could charge a lot of rent for. A couple of years later they converted the units to condos and cashed in. The condos have only been listed once, ours was around $150k. 2 bedrooms, large living/dining room, wonderfully large kitchen with the biggest Wedgewood stove I've ever seen.
Next time its listed it will probably be around 1mil, that's how much real estate has gone up since the early 1980's in that part of beautiful Oakland.
Last time I ran into Edward we traded stories about that place. That was about 10 years ago.

(18,628 posts)Along with three others for $2 each. I informed the woman that he died today and added that the record is probably worth $2.50 now. Instead, I got her to toss in a couple Halloween decorations for free.
I thought it Ironic that the album was "Life For The Taking".
