Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Sunday defended President Trump's decision to invite a Taliban representative to Camp David for peace talks with Afghanistan's president.

Pompeo told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union that the administration has "an obligation to do everything we can."

"The president believed we could further that, further American national interest, with people that have the capacity to actually deliver," Pompeo added.

Tapper asked Pompeo if he personally had any issue with inviting the Taliban to Camp David.

“I can’t help but think that if a Democratic president had talked about having the Taliban come to Camp David to negotiate a peace process that was not already a done deal, that you as a congressman, as a soldier, as a veteran, as a West Point graduate, that you would be rather upset,” the CNN host said.

"I've been fully supportive of this effort [and] the direction we've taken," Pompeo responded. ............................

I was watch Joy earlier. She had a quest on saying Camp David the home of the Peace Accords is reserved for signing of Peace deals once completed --which this was not!!

And the idea of inviting a Taliban leader to Camp David is beyond insulting.

We’re living in an alternative universe where reality becomes whatever distraction Trump and his sycophants need to turn attention away from news Trump doesn’t like—perhaps the huge destruction that Hurricane Dorian left behind in Alabama. 😱

Either that or it's his worst deliberate slap at everything America is to reward the Taliban, cohorts of the people who killed 3000 of us on 9/11 to "peace talks" on that date? Deliberately making fun and light of all the deaths these asses helped cause 8 years ago or deliberate lie - either would fit dotard donnie, the orange traitor tot.

CHAOS!

That is what Putin wants, and that is what Putin is getting.

Our democracy will be so shredded by the time the turd is gone, with all norms eliminated, it may well be beyond salvaging.

But hell, let's play this game...

Soon after the Taliban meeting, let's have a meet and greet sit down love fest with those FINE people, the Nazis and the KKK.

After all, we must do EVERYTHING WE CAN to bring this country to its knees...

Pompeo said he had an agreement in principle so what was there to negotiate? And for the first time he is saying that the Kabul government leader was to also be part of the meeting. That doesn't sound like an agreement in principle had been reached.

And why did this Taliban strike in Kabul cause any bigger ruckus than all of the earlier Taliban strikes. Sounds like Trump had another brain fart.

Because its not known if this is true or not, and more claims from a serial liar. It could be all PR to distract, again. It shouldn't be accepted as being true from this guy ever unless checked out and verified by many sources because so much they say are lies, and intentional lies , and false claims just to mislead and redirect attention away from other more damaging things .
