Trump to hold campaign rally in New Mexico

President Trump’s reelection campaign announced Friday he will hold a rally in Rio Rancho, N.M. on Sept. 16 at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, a multipurpose facility that says it seats approximately 6,000 for hockey and rodeos and up to 7,500 for concerts.

“We have seen an economic boom in New Mexico since President Trump took office. While President Obama lost 1,900 jobs, President Trump has added 34,600 jobs in the state,” said Michael Glassner, Chief Operating Officer of the Trump campaign. “President Trump has delivered on his promises, and he looks forward to celebrating those successes with the great men and women of New Mexico.”

Trump will face an uphill battle in New Mexico, known as the Land of Enchantment – the state went for Hillary Clinton in 2016 by over 8 points and voted for Barack Obama both in 2008 and 2012.

The state also has a heavy Latin American population, with Hispanics making up 46.4 percent of the entire state, and borders Mexico, making it a prime staging ground for a fight over the administration’s hardline immigration policies.

3. Dear god no! Well, I guess it's time for us to organize a protest of the monster near my home.

I've been to the Santa Ana Star Center many times. It's not that big, but it's the biggest place outside of Albuquerque. Rio Rancho is a conservative enclave in a Blue state, county and region. It's the home of transplants, mostly from NE states, who have come here to work for the big Intel plant. They usually don't stay very long.

Though Rio Rancho is a conservative dot on a liberal landscape, there aren't a whole bunch of idiots and rednecks here. I'm confident the protest will outnumber his local klan. Still, the facility is small enough to look full with a low number.

My question is: why new mexico? This is not friendly trump country. Brag all you like about your employment numbers, but people here know that Obama resurrected our economy and trump has been riding those coattails. There is no giant leap since the orange menace stole our government. Notably, we just got rid of a petulant Republican governor who held us back for years. Any recent progress is the result of our state becoming more and more progressive, especially in 2018.

Finally, Rio Rancho is basically a suburb of Albuquerque. I have little doubt that the city will renounce the trumpster fire in 2020. Again, why come here? He doesn't have a chance of taking our paltry number of electoral college votes.
