MILWAUKEE - Foxconn Technology Group says Louis Woo has stepped down as the executive who has represented the Taiwanese company in Wisconsin.
Foxconn told the Journal Times that Woo has "relinquished his project responsibilities to focus on addressing some personal matters." Foxconn wasn't specific on the personal matters or say if the change was permanent or temporary.
Woo was a special assistant to Foxconn founder and former Chairman Terry Gou before Gou launched an unsuccessful campaign for president of Taiwan.

(9,124 posts)...and it's a fickle market. I understand a change in strategy.
They got a foothold in Wisconsin and access to the university system. The money they were offered per job creation on the original deal was outrageously insane.
Walker rushed this boondoggle thru. He gets credit or should I say blame for this as well as does Vos.

(6,628 posts)Scott Wanker drove it through and his Republican enablers in the Wisconsin legislature folded. They own it. We pay for it.
We knew immediately that it was a Rotten "deal" and so it proves to be.
Can we at least save the 7-million gallons per day of Lake Michigan fresh water that Foxconn demands?

(9,124 posts)Originally the were going to us 15 million gallons per day recycling some and yes taking 7 million daily from the Great Lakes. I don't know what the need will be now.
How they got past the Great Lakes council I have no idea and I still think that amount of water use is still up for debate.
...is that they won't be using any water at all. I think it's doubtful any of their plans are going to bear out.

(11,949 posts)Kentucky got the Toyota plant. And that was a Democratic Governor. If I remember correctly it was not nearly as outrageous as the deals today. Just deferred taxes for a limited time. Although I was in college so my memory may be faulty.
IBM was shutting down and it provided lots of comparable jobs. Along with associated industries it brought. Unfortunately still not a Unionized shop.
