Hurricane Dorian Makes Landfall in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina; Heavy Rain, Wind, Storm Surge

Hurricane Dorian is lashing North Carolina and southeast Virginia with torrential rain, storm surge flooding and high winds and will brush of southeast New England tonight before slamming into Atlantic Canada this weekend.
Dorian made landfall over Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, at 8:35 a.m. EDT with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph and a central pressure of 956 millibars.
Dorian's maximum sustained winds make it a Category 1 hurricane and it continues to move northeastward.
