Mark Sanford postpones announcing possible 2020 presidential bid

Republican Mark Sanford is delaying his announcement on whether he’ll challenge President Donald Trump with his own White House bid until after Hurricane Dorian and its impact on the Carolinas and the nation are clear.

In a phone interview with The Post and Courier on Monday, the former South Carolina governor and congressman said the country is focused on the hurricane, as is he.

Sanford previously had given himself until Labor Day to formalize and declare his intent. His team additionally confirmed the decision to delay in a statement issued to political media.

“As Governor he dealt with many storm preparations, and given the gravity of this storm, he encourages residents along the East Coast to pay heed to the warnings and declarations of state and county emergency operation teams,” the release said.

Too late, Mark. They just elected their new president.

leaving your state and not having anyone there that knows where you are or how to get a hold of you would make it difficult to build trust, especially when you lied with something as stupid as going on a big hike. Naah, the state will be fine. His family did not know where he was and we are expected to want this guy to be the president?

I don't get it, either. BTW, in 2013, his Democratic opponent was Stephen Colbert's sister.

He learned from the Clowner-in-Chief the importance of a trumped-up announcement.

I mean, really; Mark Fuckin’ Sanford as President of the United States? Give me a break.

tRump during an emergency, at one of his golf courses. Hiking would be out of the question for tRump. He needs a golf cart to go a few yards. Anyone challenging tRump had better be squeaky clean. tRump had enough dirty laundry for the next three gop presidential contestants. The gop scrapes underneath the barrel for their candidates. The more unethical the better.
