Trump doesn't think he's 'ever even heard of a Category 5' hurricane. Four such storms have threatened the US since he took office

Updated 8:14 AM ET, Mon September 2, 2019

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump said Sunday that he's "not sure that (he's) ever even heard of a Category 5" hurricane, despite four such storms -- including Hurricane Dorian -- having threatened the US since he took office.

"We don't even know what's coming at us. All we know is it's possibly the biggest. I have -- I'm not sure that I've ever even heard of a Category 5. I knew it existed. And I've seen some Category 4's -- you don't even see them that much," Trump said at a briefing with officials at FEMA's headquarters in Washington, DC.

"But a Category 5 is something that -- I don't know that I've ever even heard the term other than I know it's there. That's the ultimate, and that's what we have unfortunately," he added, in reference to Hurricane Dorian.

The comments from the President came just before Dorian, a dangerous Category 5 storm, made landfall on the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas. The storm is the most recent of four Category 5 hurricanes to endanger parts of the US since Trump assumed the Oval Office. As of Monday morning, Dorian is still battering the Abaco and Grand Bahama Islands. The hurricane -- the strongest on the planet anywhere this year -- lashed the region overnight and is forecast to continue through much of Monday. The storm is now expected to move northward and possibly bring hurricane-force winds to Florida Monday night before moving up the east coast.........................................

I think it is really dangerous that a president would forget or blabber on and on like this during a Hurricane news conference.

In 2017, Hurricane Maria was a CAT 5 and since then, he has spent the past 2 years ENDLESSLY arguing and fussing with the mayor of San Juan. And earlier that year Hurricane Irma hit FL. Last year there was Hurricane Michael that blasted into the FL pan handle and tore through Alabama. Hurricane Matthew was in 2016, where Dorian appears to be paralleling the latter portion of Matthew's track (which is expected to go up the FL east coast).

There was a tweet that I saw yesterday related to Dorian and the CAT 5s just the past 4 years -

he has ranted many times about giving them 92 million in aid after Hurricane Maria devastated the island. The Washington Post reports that about $14 billion of funds allocated by Congress has reached Puerto Rico so far.

It's not something that can be talked about in the same sentence as "Donald J. Trump", so why learn about it? Trump is the only thing that matters to Trump.

Last night, a news channel showed trump using the same basic "I never even heard of a Category 5 hurricane" line, over and over and over again---4 separate times, at least. Fucking moron.

Repeating the same claim at least four times in three years could show either a real lack of concern for the truth - or worse yet - a very feeble memory.

I'm betting they'll show it again---particularly if trump spews out yet another comment about never having heard of a Category 5.
