'Straight Pride' parade in Boston draws counterprotesters

Source: CNN

A "Straight Pride" parade in downtown Boston attracted counterprotesters -- and a heavy police presence -- resulting in almost three dozen arrests.

A large number of counterprotesters taunted marchers Saturday and chanted "Alt right, get off our streets, no justice, no peace." Counterprotesters outnumbered the parade participants, CNN affiliate WCVB reported. Boston's mayor also condemned the parade, and encouraged residents to attend block parties and other events that celebrated the city.

Floats and signs expressed pro-military and pro-Trump sentiments, such as "Support our troops" and "Build the wall and crime will fall." A man in a jester's hat carried a sign saying "Great to be straight" as he danced down the street.

"I'm outraged by the idea that straight people need a pride parade," said parade watcher Shoshanna Ehrlich, who came with her daughter. "We are not an oppressed majority by an stretch of the imagination. This is full of hate and offensive."

The only purpose of a statement like that is to belittle our brothers and sisters who happen to be different than us.

I hope you enjoyed your brief stay at DU.

That's their choice and they have that right. I just don't see why they have to be so in-your-face about it.

Thank you!

The last three paragraphs were a perfect summation -

I don’t care what your race, gender, sexual orientation or religious beliefs happen to be, there is no way anyone who chooses to spend time in the hellscape that is Boston Massachusetts deserves to be celebrated in any way shape or form.

The roads are awful, there’s nowhere to park, the winters are too cold, public transit is a nightmare, the people are dumb, everyone’s a racist, everyone’s a sexist, everyone’s a bigot, everyone like shitty music, everyone drives like a piece of shit, the Patriots fans are assholes, the Bruins fans are assholes, everyone thinks it’s ok to wear sweatpants all the time, the Celtics fans are assholes, the Red Sox fans are assholes, the Freedom Trail is a fucking joke, they’re drunk all the time, no one speaks English, it’s too fucking expensive, everything smells like piss, the pizza sucks, fuck em. Just, fuck them.

I can’t fucking wait to move out of Boston.

You hate the city because of a few assholes? Boston has two great colleges, I hear.

Out of all the good arguments why not to hold a straight pride parade, complaining that everyone who lives in Boston is a moron is the weakest.

For God’s sake, if you hate Boston move somewhere else. But let me clue you in: Here in New Orleans we are currently celebrating the Southern Decadence Festival. Bit not everyone in New Orleans is a saint—we are also home to Steve Scalise, David Vitter, and once Davis Duke.

One could easily substitue Philadelphia, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, New Orleans, or Chicago.

Untwist your knickers.

It's a satire piece from The Hard Times, which, BTW, is nipping at The Onions heels
in terms of it's comedic quality.

We must have humor and laughter as part of our defense mechanism in these troubled times.

Can't we cut the people who live in clean water cities and still buy questionably sourced water in plastic bottles a break?

Can't we cut the people who must have _____ on their sandwich a break?
(wife burn, she might read this)

This acceptance of the right to be stupid (even with proven proof) just aint cutting it?
