(CNN)Long Beach, California, police arrested a man they say was planning a mass shooting, the police chief said.
Rodolfo Montoya, 37, allegedly was planning to shoot employees and guests at the Marriott hotel where he worked as a cook, Chief Robert Luna said at a press conference Wednesday.
Police arrested Montoya at his Huntington Beach home after getting a tip from a fellow employee about Montoya's plans, Luna said.
"Suspect Montoya had clear plans, intent, and the means to carry out an act of violence that may have resulted in a mass-casualty incident," Luna said.

Feeling a bit like I'm in the middle of maggot country. Perhaps it's time to move back down to South county. I seldom saw Republican bumper stickers down there. Not even many homes flying the American flag.
ETA: The county is blue now. And we did get rid of our House Rep. Rohrabacher. Still... we've got some crazy here.

"The city has used the gun-control law aggressively and says it has prevented suicides and mass shootings."
We can never prove that we saved lives, but we believe we have, said Elliott.
"A study published this week in the Annals of Internal Medicine echoed that sentiment and put some figures on Californias GVRO law. The study, which looked at orders issued between 2016 and 2018 from across the state, found 21 cases that disarmed potential mass shooters."
