Epstein Was Left Alone and Not Closely Monitored Before Jail Suicide
Source: New York Times
Jeffrey Epstein, the financier who hanged himself in a federal jail in Manhattan, was supposed to have been checked by guards every 30 minutes, but that procedure was not being followed the night before he was found, a law-enforcement official with knowledge of his detention said.
In addition, the jail had transferred his cellmate and allowed Mr. Epstein to be housed alone in a cell just two weeks after he had been taken off suicide watch, a decision that also violated the jails normal procedure, two officials said.

(2,992 posts)suicide watch is VERY restrictive. Inmates will do whatever it takes to get off watch, whether they're determined to commit suicide or just don't want to be so restricted.
It's also possible that he sincerely didn't want to kill himself when he was taken off watch, but then got suicidal again. That happens.

Why are they not checking on him, especially considering his supposed previous suicide attempt? Why did they remove his cellmate?
Why did they remove him from suicide watch? Nothing suspicious here?

She would come home and her feet would hurt from all the walking she had to do for checking on prisoners all night.
Finally she quit, but I told her yesterday if she was in charge in watching Episten, his ass would still be here.

(9,291 posts)Can't insure justice for rape and homicide victims. Why arrest at all? Of course I would lie, it's a human/criminal behavior thing.
I'm saying, that releasing the entitled rich man from suicide watch, after he just tried a few weeks ago was malpractice for his victims. They deserved their day in court, but we can't guarantee that we can keep someone alive to get them to court? On his second try after a few weeks?
He was in our custody for a reason, it was to allow his victims to gain justice.
I'm amazed that California hasn't lost the Golden State killer, I mean he already tried to bash his skull into a wall.

(2,992 posts)1. It's possible we're wrong. Was there a conspiracy? We doubt it, but no one is saying definitely not. We want to know if that's the case, and those responsible should be brought to justice.
2. Assuming we're right and this was a suicide, this is a case of monumental negligence. Those responsible should be fired, and I wouldn't be upset if Epstein's victims sued them for civil liability.
3. Those who think Epstein's death lets anyone off the hook should be informed of just how wrong they are. As I've said previously, there's probably very little Epstein could have told investigators that they don't already know. Money was involved. That leaves a trail.

Epstein was more than a child molester. Epstein was also an utterly brazen, obscenely wealthy pimp on a large scale of many underage girls (and wouldn't surprise me if there were underage boys too) to other obscenely wealthy men, men who moved at the highest levels of government and society.

(3,268 posts)"The mistreatment of molesters in prison, however, is often exaggerated. Despite a handful of high-profile murders, like those of Jeffrey Dahmer and Father John Geoghan, relatively few child molesters are killed. California sends about 1,300 people to jail every year for sexual abuse of a minor. Only 11 people die annually from assaults in California prisons, and few of them are convicted molesters. Criminologists say that many child molesters assimilate into prison society perfectly well, even if their fellow inmates know what they did. Its often a question of making friends in the right gangusually based on your race or which county youre fromand relying on their protection."
It would appear you're 100% WRONG...

(3,268 posts)" Child molesters almost always leave jail "in a body bag" " and you are referencing an article on if 100% accurate would indicate 23 killed in one year while mine showed a yearly intake of around 1300 child molesters. In what world is 23 "almost" all of 1300? Are you claiming over a thousand a year commit suicide in California prisons because in 2017 only 31 prisoners committed suicide. If everyone of those were a child molester that would place 54 out of a minimum of 1300 (remember-the 1300 number doesn't include any molesters imprisons prior to that calendar year) in body bags for a total mortality rate of around 5%. So I'll ask-in your world is 5% almost all?

50 Shades Of Blue
(9,983 posts)And Jeffrey Epstein was a hell of a lot more than a child molester himself, i.e. a child molester who just happened to hobnob with very wealthy and powerful men who had no idea what he was up to. Epstein was a SEX TRAFFICKER on a large scale, with his own private island where he provided trafficked underage girls to some of those same men where they could rape and abuse children in so-called seclusion.
Epstein had blackmail material up the wazoo on some very wealthy and powerful men. He knew it and they knew it. I'm just surprised he lived this long.

(4,192 posts)There's a long way to go before anything can be believed about this case. It was clear that he made a lot of high-profile people nervous and fearful of being exposed as pedophiles. Epstein getting killed in jail is 100% *not* a surprise.
And most of the media is dutifully carrying the official story like it's already a foregone conclusion. Color me surprised.
When someone keeps lying to us over and over and we keep believing them or giving them the benefit of the doubt, at what point do we realize the problem is just as much us for being gullible and incurious and continually tuning into them to give them yet another opportunity to lie to us.
We are watching the crime of pedophilia being covered up before our very eyes. People who ruined the lives of countless children for their own perverted sexual pleasures are getting away with it. Again.

(12,583 posts)In addition, the cell he was housed in was where the prison janitor stored 50 feet of rope, a variety of poisons, a samurai sword he had inherited from his WWII veteran father, jumper cables connected to a 240 volt electrical outlet he had meant to fix, a loaded shotgun and a magazine full of naked pictures of prepubescent girls. There was also a video of the movie "Deliverance" set up to loop the "squeal like a pig!" scene over and over. His guards were pulled off their duty stations for two hours to wash, wax and detail the warden's Lamborghini.
