Justice Department won't prosecute Comey over leak of his memos after referral from internal watchdog

The Justice Department's internal watchdog referred former FBI Director James Comey for prosecution over the leaking of some of his memos to the media, law enforcement sources told NBC News Thursday.
The Department of Justice, however, declined to prosecute Comey, the sources said.
The memos, which Comey leaked to The New York Times after President Donald Trump fired him, detailed conversations Comey had with the president related to the FBIs probe of the president and Russian election interference.
News of the inspector generals referral of the Comey matter and the decision by the Justice Department to not prosecute him was first reported by The Hill.

And he/she recommends prosecuting Comey for leaking his own memos after he was fired?
I wonder if 'internal DOJ watchdog' is another of Jared's many jobs.

(4,533 posts)Comey gave memos to a friend to be given to the press. Nothing in the memos was classified when Comey provided it. Only later parts of the memo were given the lowest security classification. Comey had zero intention to leak classified information. There is no reason to believe anyone would expect it to be classified at a later date. The odds Comey would be found guilty were there a trial are low.
