Pelosi: Trump's attack on Dem lawmakers reaffirms his plan to make 'America white again'

Source: The Hill

BY JUSTIN WISE - 07/14/19 10:45 AM EDT

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday condemned President Trump for telling a group of progressive lawmakers to go back to where they came from, saying the "xenophobic" comments reaffirmed that Trump's plan is to make "America white again."

Her comments came just hours after Trump targeted a group of progressive lawmakers, telling them to go back and fix the "totally broken and crime infested places" they came from before speaking out about how the United States government should be run.

Trump did not identify the lawmakers. But the remarks came amid a week of escalating tensions between Pelosi and a group of four freshman House Democrats — Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rep Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.).

So remember when Nancy Pelosi was interviewed/featued by the NYT? Here : (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/06/opinion/sunday/nancy-pelosi-pride-parade.html)
and she stated/Quoted :

Pelosi feels that the four made themselves irrelevant to the process by voting against “our bill,” as she put it, which she felt was the strongest one she could get. “All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” she said. “But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.”

She took a swipe at the four freshmen members. Only to have the "Political right" join in asking the women to learn respect.

If you need examples?!? Enjoy:

By going after AOC she opened a flank for her most popular and charismatic members to be attacked. All the while less we forget it was the 4 Billion border security WITHOUT CONDITIONS that Nacy gave the POuS that AOC disagreed with her on.

No matter what she does, they find fault. Meanwhile the erstwhile freshmen with not even 12 months in the House are hailed as some visionary leaders when their most demonstrated skill seem to be taking selfies and talking shit. I'm starting to believe there is a large percentage on the internet with Mommy issues.

Criticize Trump and point out his bullshit? Done and done. Get the ball rolling with hearings and investigations into Trump's crimes? Done and done.

With only the House in Democratic hands, there's only so much she and the rest of the Democrats can do. McConnell will stymie any actual legislation, since he's focused on protecting Trump and packing the courts with judges. Impeaching Trump will result in an acquittal in the Senate, and with polls finding that a majority of Americans are against impeachment at the present time, the political cost would outweigh the benefit. The hearings and investigations are designed to build the case for impeachment in order to sway the public to that way of thinking. If it works and the GOP acquits him (which they will regardless of the facts), then the GOP pays the price rather than the Democrats.

I get the argument for impeaching him on principle, but if it will ultimately do no good, or even more harm than good, a "victory" on principle results in nothing being gained. Reality sucks sometimes, but it is what it is.

Also, the accusations of racism against other Democrats from AOC and her fellows are not helpful. Every time the infighting cranks up, Trump and McConnell just grin and lick their chops. At this point I don't give a shit who started it or whose feelings are hurt, the infighting needs to stop. Mature adults should be able to put aside their differences in order to oppose the actual threat.

if you don't wish to impeach how about multiple censures at the least! Start defunding his agenda. Most of all leave your own party members out of your mouth unless you say "We are the party of many great ideas" STOP THE CIRCULAR FIRING SQUAD! D*mn it's not that hard. but again I as you. What. Has. She. Done!

Just because she's not doing exactly what you want her to do doesn't mean she's doing nothing.

What would censures do? Not much, really. There are no legal consequences. It's merely a formal statement of "I disapprove." She's doing that every time she talks about Trump, for all intents and purposes.

As for defunding his agenda, I presume you're referring to the border funding bill. Passing the bill at least allows for the possibility of the funds helping the people being held by ICE and CBP. Taking a stand on principle and refusing to do so is basically saying, "We care more about making a point than we do about helping these people. Sorry kids, you'll have to wait for your toothpaste and blankets." Pelosi chose people in need over politics, and I think she made the right call.

Insofar as the circular firing squad is concerned, that applies just as much to AOC and her colleagues as it does to Pelosi or any other Democrat, and yet it seems that you're only chastising Pelosi over it. Like I said before, though, accusations of racism leveled at Pelosi or any other Congressional Democrat are not helpful, and neither are they true.

Because you can't reverse funds that have been appropriated by law, unless you pass another law, which requires the Senate, which is currentl controlled by Mitch McConnell.

You seem to think that Speaker Pelosi has some magic wand that allows her to bypass the constitution when you think she should, but she's just refusing to use. And yet.... somehow she isn't able to prevent tweets trashing from Democrats in congress from going out.

How do you explain that?

You don't seem to understand that Speaker Pelosi isn't the bad guy here - it's Trump and the GOP. I have to wonder why.

And I think under normal circumstances she would be correct in how to battle a GOP president.

But in today’ world, with that POS Donald Trump as POTUS, I think this.

She is bringing a knife to a gun fight.

And we can probably assume that 40% of the population that follows Donald Trump would truly be willing to <insert your own thoughts/words> to the rest of us.
