McConnell's Democratic challenger says she likely would have voted for Kavanaugh
Source: The Hill
Amy McGrath, who announced this week she will challenge Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) in 2020, says in a new interview that she would have likely voted to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
"I was very concerned about Judge Kavanaugh, what I felt like were the far-right stances that he had. However, there was nothing in his record that I think would disqualify him in any way," McGrath, a former Marine fighter pilot, told the Louisville Courier-Journal.
"And the fact is when you have the president and the Senate, this is our system and so I don't think there was anything that would have disqualified him in my mind," she said, adding when pressed on how she would have voted: "yeah, I probably would have voted for him."
Kavanaugh's nomination became a flashpoint after allegations of sexual assault from psychology professor and research psychologist Christine Blasey Ford, which he denied. Senators eventually voted 50-48 to confirm Kavanaugh, ending a rancorous debate over his nomination.

(30,613 posts)One of his most reprehensible schemes, and with the worst, longest-lasting consequences for this country. Kavanaugh is one of the top two or three reasons McConnell has to go. Supporting that nomination is saying "I'm just as evil as a Repervert politician."

Republican voters only pay attention to the first statement. Case closed, they're good.

(19,549 posts)It's Kentucky, if she wants to win she's going to have to make a lot of us cringe. It sucks, I get that and agree completely. But, she's playing local politics and that's how you oust McConnell. Her donors balked, so she backtracked, which I also get, but it's not going to win her the race. It's a bad move.
It fucking sucks we can't understand microclimates on a large scale when it comes to politics as a party. We need this messed up, Trump loving state desperately!
This right here is why we lose. We're too stupid (ideologically pure) to know what's best for us to see what's right.

(29,322 posts)She said she is not Obama and was holding shotguns in campaign ads she still lost.
He faced Democratic Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes in the general election. Although polls showed the race was very close,[285] McConnell defeated Grimes, 56.240.7%.[286][287] The 15.5% margin of victory was one of his largest, second only to his 2002 margin

To me this thread is a pro-Mitch McConnell thread, I welcome someone turning me in. Next to Trump and Barr, Mitch McConnell is the biggest threat to our democracy, I will never be silent about that no matter how many people here try to silence me.
Amy is a combat veteran who did more for this country than people who are bashing her here. You go girl, take down the grim reaper. One good thing about this thread, because of it I am sending Amy 100 bucks.
