Two Republican senators say rape allegation against Trump should be investigated while many in GOP stay mum

By Ted Barrett and Kristin Wilson, CNN

Updated 5:01 PM ET, Tue June 25, 2019

(CNN)Two Republican senators said Tuesday the rape allegation made against President Donald Trump by writer E. Jean Carroll should be explored to determine the veracity of the allegation against the President -- even as many Senate Republicans sidestepped questions over the matter and defended Trump.

Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa said both Trump and Carroll should be questioned about the alleged assault. "I think anybody that makes an accusation like that, they should come forward," Ernst said when asked if Carroll should be believed. "But obviously there has to be some additional information. They need to interview her. They need to visit with him."

Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah said there needs to be an "evaluation" but that he didn't know what entity should conduct it, "whether it's Congress or whether it's another setting, I'm not sure."

Bill "Low" Barr will just determine there is nothing to these allegations, and it will be swept under the rug. NOTHING sticks to this orange abomination - -nothing. I tend to agree that she "was not my type". He likes the pay-to-play type, doesn't he? Everything and everybody in tRump world has a price, as far as he is concerned.

Americans don't seem to care enough and many in TPTB would not do a damn thing. Hopefully 2020 will remove this critter from the WH.

I don't care whether or not the victim files a complaint, due to his position this defiantly needs to be investigated. I don't trust the GOP so maybe an "outside the govt" group would be appropriate.

to character assassination.
Repubs would love this.
It is a she said/he said without even good circumstantial evidence, which of course is usually the kind of evidence used to make a case.
The coat is not good evidence. There is no probable cause to get Trump’s DNA. If that could be achieved, chain of custody comes in. Semen on at item does not, alone, prove an act of penetration, much less that it was non-consensual.
The best use Ms. Carroll’s claim makes is as another negative in the court of public opinion.
If a prosecutable case could be found, then her testimony, if allowed in, might help that case.

she didn’t mean SHE thinks that way, maybe she meant, in the context of the convo...I don’t know.
But why wouldn’t Repubs love her account to be the one to help discount all the others.

She explained the practical limits of her memory, and that nobody else was around.

The stinking, bloated horror that is Donald Trump will deny it in his strident, whiney voice per usual, and because rightwingers love them some creepy old menfolk who like to assert their will on women, it won't go anywhere.

nepotism, waste of government resources at Trump properties, destruction of public records, incompetence among cabinet members, illegal actions of those cabinet members, rolling back of existing standards - all of which Congress can actually do something about - rather than an incident long past the statute of limitations. We already know Trump is a serial sexual abuser, but that was fine when you supported him. There are plenty more recent crimes he's guilty of.

Almost forgot - inhuman conditions at the border concentration camps. That should keep the House and Senate busy for a while.

that tRump would pass a lie detector test. He has lied his entire life, so I doubt that any physical changes occur when he lies now. He would send one of his alter egos in to take the test. John Barrow or the other guy. The bloated monstrosity would make a big deal out of how honest he is. Women flock to him, wishing he would try something because he is so very sexy.
