Former congressman Joe Sestak enters 2020 White House race

Source: Washington Post

Former congressman Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) announced Sunday that he is running for president, joining 23 earlier entrants in the presidential race.

Sestak made the announcement in a video posted to his campaign website.

“I’m Joe Sestak, and I wore the cloth of the nation for over 31 years in peace and war, from the Vietnam and Cold War eras to Afghanistan and Iraq and the emergence of China,” Sestak said in the video. “Born and raised in Pennsylvania, I grew up in this global canvas of service in the United States Navy.”

Sestak served two terms in the House, from 2007 to 2011. A retired Navy admiral, he also pursued two unsuccessful bids for the Senate, each time drawing the ire of national Democrats, who chafed at Sestak’s go-it-alone style and quirky personality.

I supported him in his Senate races, but if I recall correctly, he doesn't play well with Party Leadership.

“The knowledge of thyself will preserve thee from vanity.” Cervantes

Evidently a number of Democratic hopefuls do not know themselves. I hope after this first debate, the DNC urges candidates who remain with less than 1% to drop out. We do not need the next debate stage to be filled with wannabes who have no chance of winning the nomination. And some of them should be considering a Senate run instead. We need all three branches to accomplish anything more meaningful than passing an annual budget.

I too, supported him for the Senate and we need to replace Toomey - we do not need another Presidential candidate with no shot at winning.

just hanging around looking to get the Dem VP pick?
Two dozen, with far more than half under 3%?
You have to honor process, but this is getting ridiculous.

And yes, it would be far better if the debate stage had only candidates with a somewhat realistic chance.

The DNC should set a higher bar, it's crazy being forced to hold a 'debate' over two nights. It's going to be a circus.

Just for a minute I was afraid we didn’t have enough presidential candidates to choose from!

Seriously, what’s the real number of serious contenders? Five?

and no, our national party did not give him the support needed because he should be in the Senate instead of Toomey. His loss was on our DNC leadership.

By all conventional wisdom Toomey is too extreme for moderate PA and easily beatable, yet there he is.
