President Donald Trump on Sunday morning stood firm on his decision to delay the deportations of thousands of undocumented families, reaffirming that he is giving Democrats two weeks to work out an asylum deal.
I want to give the Democrats every last chance to quickly negotiate simple changes to Asylum and Loopholes, the president wrote on Twitter. This will fix the Southern Border, together with the help that Mexico is now giving us. Probably wont happen, but worth a try. Two weeks and big Deportation begins!
Trump set the timeline of two weeks on Saturday. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was set to begin the deportations of up to 2,000 families who have missed a court date or have been served deportation orders starting on Sunday. Those plans sparked an outcry from Democrats and some law enforcement officials around the nation.

(6,917 posts)The effectiveness of the guy behind the mask is that he didn't need to wear a mask at all. His followers knew exactly what he stands for, yet are loyal disciples of who THEY would call the Antichrist.
They know him by his actions and they support every cruel and immoral act Trump gives them license to commit. They are the "hypocrites" from their own Bible text.

(9,986 posts)Trump doesnt seem to know that there are two parties, and his party does nothing but block legislation. An immigration reform bill was brought up sometime in the last year or so and Republicans killed it. Bring it up again.

(5,499 posts)So he can claim total victory. I know the laws support his action. But he is not going to sign a law giving dreamers full protection and a path to citizenship. It's not what his white supremacist base wants. He throws this on the Democrats so he can justify his actions.

(37,648 posts)It's up to him.
The Democrats cannot let themselves be blackmailed. They have a border budget that's more than enough to supply soap and toobrushes, border agent pay, etc. They got money for the wall from a GoFundMe account.
What's the problem? Except they're trying to blame the Democrats for their actions in abusing illegal immigrants, and as usual, trying to get more money to secret away for their wall, under the guise of "humanitarian aid."
If he doesn't have enough money, maybe he shouldn't have cut the taxes of the millionaires and billionaires? Ask them for donations, if he needs money. They owe him a favor.

"HE'S NOT ON OUR SIDE."
He is totally mobbed up and the tool of smarter, more evil actors whose GRAND PLAN is a re-order of the world's power structure into a strangle hold that decimates the current democracies.
We HAVE to see him through that lens.
He has no will to serve the American people.
He's serving the dark side. His task is to tear it all down.
He's just getting his ego stroked along the way by Republicans giving him license to rule.

(5,372 posts)The UN defines a refugee as "a person with well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group". This doesn't include most Central Americans who are fleeing gangs and street crime, the rate of people who apply and are granted asylum is less than 30% in the US.
