Federal prosecutors on Friday declined to make public transcripts of recorded conversations between Michael Flynn and Russias ambassador to the United States in December 2016, despite a judges order.
In a court filing Friday, the Justice Department wrote that it did not rely on such recordings to establish Flynns guilt or determine a recommendation for his sentencing.
Prosecutors also failed to release an unredacted version of portions of the Mueller report related to Flynn that the judge had ordered be made public.

"The government further represents that it is not relying on any other recordings, of any person, for purposes of establishing the defendants guilt or determining his sentence, nor are there any other recordings that are part of the sentencing record" means that DOJ is refusing to turn over the Flynn-Russians transcripts and audio recordings despite the Court's explicit order.

(34,136 posts)From his campaign on, they have been lying, lying when the truth is already known, lying when they dodn't need to, lying about every interaction with Russians or anything to do with Russia.
Whatever they are covering up is worse than what we already know about.

(14,490 posts)Perhaps big hidden RNC funding or many, many GOP politicians that Russia has serious dirt on......
As you say, it's just too stupid to lie unless there's an underlying cause. They act as if they're scared to death to speak the truth.

(34,136 posts)Just look at the mess the NRA is in since Maria Butina was uncovered - and I think that will get even messier.
I just wish it would all come out before the election next year.

(14,490 posts)is that Russia has so much compromising dirt on key GOP politicians that they have sent a not so subtle message to someone high-up in the GOP saying "if all you guys don't walk the chalk line and cover for us, we will unleash a torrent of crap that will bring your whole house down". Strict orders would then be passed down to politicians at all levels and perhaps with a few select RW media personalities in the know as well to cover for all things Russian.
That scenario certainly would explain most of the sucking up to Russia's interests as well as their refusal to address Russian election meddling.

(10,123 posts)He wanted to nail him for longer than six months.
I think what he is trying to do is let the American people get a taste of what outraged him. Those transcripts of Flynn talking with the Russians would seem to be a part of that.

(349 posts)And I would hate to be the Assistant US Attorney that will have to appear before Judge Sullivan without transcripts or recordings if/when the judge summons them.
Imagine: "You are to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2019, bearing either the ordered transcripts and recordings or comfortable clothes, preferably in orange."

(5,240 posts)What are the judge's options?
The judge should hold the U.S. attorneys in contempt of court and give them a day or so to comply with his earlier order. It's incredible to me that they are ignoring an order from a federal judge.

(6,588 posts)... & hang themselves.
The Dems are handling this so well, setting up the fight between the COURTS & Trump, so all Americans can see how Trump & Co are defying the law (thus eroding his support, & hurting Repubs who support him) & it will be the COURTS who impose penalties (fines, arrests, jail) so it is clear to voters it's a matter of justice instead of partisanship.

(4,006 posts)They must be really dumb lawyers to not only lie for the Orangegrifter but also not even think their calls and conversations were recorded.
Here's a good one too. In matters related to national security (love how Repusbliscums always seem to use this in their defense) the CIA, NSA, FBI and even foreign intelligence actors may have recorded Trump's lawyers like Dowd and other evil-doer lawyers during the Russiagate investigations. How in the world could not allegedly experienced lawyers not know that our highly paid and trained experts could not or would not intercept their supposedly secret talks?
This is beyond dumb. Jeez, Trump could actually claim lawyer malfeasance, ineptitude and more in a defense. "Your honor, I didn't hire the best people!"
No shit, Sherlock!

(852 posts)Guess it depends on your definition of transparent - transparently corrupt comes to mind. In big, huge, transparent, out in the open corruption/coverups for all to see - this bullshit might play to the ignorant, willful or otherwise, base (and apparently Congressional pubbies), but one would hope anyone with more that two neurons to rub together would see this BS for what it is - the emperor has no clothes, yet parades around like he's the bestest, most majestic dunce of all time. The man is a moron. A moron who inherited big money. (The ultimate argument for a high inheritance tax.)
Why are so many of these people kowtowing to him? It makes no sense - did I say I think he's a moron?
Drumpf's delusions of grandeur will be his undoing - this incredible business man (his description), i.e. glorified landlord, has the business acuity of a holed sock. He's always been a joke in NYC, just another slumlord - who the eff ever thought that giving this douche a TV show was a good idea????? Sorry, I'll stop now - I'm just ranting at this point.
