New Trump immigration plan would overhaul green card system
Source: The Columbus Dispatch-Associated Press
The latest effort, spearheaded by Trumps son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, focuses on beefing up border security and rethinking the nations green card system so that it would favor people with high-level skills, degrees and job offers instead of relatives of those already in the country.
WASHINGTON Setting aside some of his hard-line rhetoric on illegal immigration, President Donald Trump said Thursday that he wanted to recruit top talent to the nation as he unveiled his latest efforts to reform residency laws after years of setbacks and stalemates.
We discriminate against genius, Trump said of current policies, which he contended excessively favor family based immigration. We discriminate against brilliance. We wont anymore once we get this passed.

(6,110 posts)Because this is a unique country. That included Sweden with 8 million people. What works there won't work here. May be China would be a good model to copy because their middle class size has exploded while ours is shrinking. And China is big enough to copy.

And we don't need any more family members coming in to take the jobs most Americans don't want. Let's keep all those families separated.
Thanks, Trump!

Add this one to Trump's pile of anti America ( probably self enriching as well) "policies".
Noteable that a Trump & Kushner racket is selling green cards to wealthy immigrants (@ minimum $500,000 a pop) as "job creating" investments in their condo projects. This just expands their wealthy HB1/green card client/profit pool.

(50,452 posts)Kushners motives are pretty obvious: he wants to transfer the costs of the H1B program to the workers, so hes going to reengineer the program to make the indentured servants pay for it.
