Valerie Plame to run for Congress as Democrat

Source: Daily Beast

Valerie Plame has officially filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run for Congress in New Mexico.

The former CIA operative, who became famous when her identity was leaked by an official in the George W. Bush administration, will run in the state’s 3rd congressional district, which will be vacated by Rep. Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), as he is running for Senate in 2020.

Karl Rove was also involved, as was Cheney and, probably, Bush, Jr., as well as a host of others in the Cheney/Bush administration. My stomach still roils at what the traitors in the Bush administration did to her. And by using the term "traitor" for the bastards, I'm only quoting Bush Senior:

“We need more human intelligence. That means we need more protection for the methods we use to gather intelligence and more protection for our sources, particularly our human sources, people that are risking their lives for their country.… I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious, of traitors.” [CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY, 4/26/1999]

(Elliot Abrams, the s.o.b. who is now Trump's special envoy to Venezuela, also played a significant role (along with Ollie North) in selling weapons to terrorists in Iran and using the money to help the Reagan administration pay terrorists in Central America. Loathsome, treasonous Elliot Abrams, convicted in Iran Contra and later pardoned by the very Bush (H.W.) who described actions, such as Elliot (et al) later took against Ms Plame, as the act of only "the most insidious of traitors." )

As Lily Tomlin said: "I try to be cynical, but it's so hard to keep up."

Best of luck to Ms Plame. Her passion and patriotism -- and suffering at the hands of traitors -- will make her an outstanding Representative.

included his son when he said that. Or know.

Poppy of course was VP during Iran-Contra. If he hadn't pardoned the Iran-Contra criminals, the scandal and investigations would have continued after Reagan's WH to involve him and his administration. A lot of the corruption and authoritarian, fascistic activities that became unmistakable in W's tenure were already well entrenched and growing during his.

"On the first full day of Rosh Hashanah, unmasked CIA officer Valerie Plame tweeted out an article entitled, “America’s Jews are driving America’s wars.” As if the headline weren’t bad enough, the essay appeared on a website featuring such pieces as “It’s time to re-think David Duke.” Its argument mirrored a classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theory: Jews run everything in America, and because of their irrational love for Israel they’re running us into foreign conflicts, too."

What was the context of her tweet? The Post links to the article in question -- and it is clearly anti-semitic -- but what was the justification, in the tweet, for linking to it?

She's going to have a lot of explaining to do -- and I don't see how she can explain it away, in any case.

The Wilsons were once close friends to Larry Johnson, the former CIA guy. Johnson used this association to worm his way into the hearts of many liberals; he appeared on "Democracy Now" and Stephanie Miller's show, and was even described as a "Democratic spokesman."

Over time, Johnson showed his true colors. He spread the Michelle Obama "whitey" hoax in 2008, and was a seminal proponent of birtherism -- in fact, most people learned about that lie via Johnson's web site. Those are not the only hoaxes he has promulgated. He's now a Trumper.

I do not believe that Johnson had a genuine change of heart. I am convinced that he is and was a right-wing infiltration agent. It should be noted that Johnson is a founding member of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, which may fairly be described as a pro-Putin organization. (Have you ever listened to Ray McGovern?)

VIPS definitely has ties to Trumpworld. You may want to ask Marcy Wheeler about that organization. And that's all I can say about that...for now.

Now, I freely admit that I do not fully comprehend the relationship between the Wilsons and Johnson. But one thing is certain: They have never denounced Johnson, not even after he was caught spreading birtherism and other hoaxes. And they damned well should have. (Denouncing him now would be too little, too late.)

In the past, I have written admiringly of both Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame Wilson. But now...? Well, as I said: Be careful.

The Larry Johnson story proves that the person with the "spooky" background who pretends to be your friend may have an agenda. There have always been people on the far right who don't like the Bush wing of the GOP (see: Roger Stone, Alex Jones, Steve Bannon). This faction knows how to appeal to -- and how to infiltrate -- the naive left.

I'm encouraged to learn that Valerie Plame is a Democratic congressional candidate from New Mexico. I searched for her ActBlue.com donation page and sent some money her way. Valerie Plame was the featured speaker at a Santa Barbara Democratic Club luncheon I attended. She autographed my copy of Fair Game. A small group of us met and chatted with Ambassador Wilson after lunch while Valerie was signing books. Valerie Plame has the knowledge and insight to be a very effective congresswoman. It may well be time to read Fair Game again. Her personal website is https://www.valerieplamewilson.com/
