Mohamed Noor found guilty of third-degree murder, manslaughter; not guilty second-degree murder

Source: KSTP- ABC affiliate

Jurors have found former Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor guilty of murder in the third degree and manslaughter in the second degree in connection to the fatal shooting of Justine Ruszczyk Damond.

However, he was found not guilty of murder in the second degree.

Damond had called 911 to report a possible crime occurring outside her South Minneapolis home in July 2017 when she was shot while approaching the vehicle with Noor and his partner Matthew Harrity inside.

Noor had pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense.

Minnesota's sentencing guideline for 3rd degree murder with no prior criminal history is 128 to 180 months. In Minnesota 2/3 of the sentence is served in prison, and 1/3 as supervised release.

and I feel bad about this, for in my heart I know if it had been a white cop and a black woman who was shot, there would be little chance off a trial , let alone a conviction.

But still got a $48,000 payout. Noor, however, is the first cop to be convicted of on-duty murder in Minnesota, and he happens to be a black immigrant Muslim
