The former secretary of state added that the Mueller report could not be more explicit in showing Trump obstructed justice.

I think what Nancy means, and I agree with what she means, is that it shouldnt be a pre-ordained conclusion, the former secretary of state said during an interview at the Time 100 Summit in New York City.
It shouldnt be what you do for partisan political purposes almost outside of the framework of the Constitution. It should be something undertaken in a really serious ... way based on evidence, she continued.

As you know, last Thursdays release of the redacted Mueller Report has caused a public outcry for truth and accountability, Pelosi said in her letter. While our views range from proceeding to investigate the finding of the Mueller report or proceeding directly to impeachment, we all firmly agree that we should proceed down a path of finding the truth.

Clinton on Tuesday compared a potential Trump impeachment to the impeachment of President Richard Nixon in 1974. Many public hearings involving Nixon administration officials took place before the House initiated impeachment proceedings against him, she noted.

(7,496 posts)However, I think the Mueller Report definitely urges much further investigation, and he should eventually be impeached on subverting law and the will of Congress, obstruction, and emoluments including Russian business dealings which clearly affected his decisions such as not to censure Russia and thwarting sanctions which are all against US interests.

(30,613 posts)But the Russia conspiracy, deadly and scary as it is, is far from the only eqregiously criminal behavior Trump engages in. Kidnapping, emoluments from many foreign adversaries and quasi-adversaries, rampant domestic corruption, and on and on, are ripe for investigation.

(3,256 posts)A half-assed impeachment will only make Trump stronger.
Let's continue the investigations and create a far more solid case on several other crimes besides the ones in the Mueller report.

(6,478 posts)Maybe the constant damning drip-drip will force enough Senate Rethugs to convict Twitler when the time comes - how could they not? With enough evidence laid bare, their backs will be to the wall.

(6,137 posts)subpoena Mueller and ask him tough questions in public. No more private hearings of any kind. No more redactions, no matter how detailed. We, the taxpayers, are the employers of the governement. So treat all of them as subordinates, they are not your bosses.

Do the due diligence house and investigate, investigate, investigate, and add on to the mountain of evidence. Then do the article of impeachment to lock in your findings.
I know the article of impeachment won't go anywhere in the Senate, but t least we cna look back years from now and applaud the Dems for doing the right thing for our democracy.

(6,039 posts)We will go here it leads us. We are all involved in this process. As the process goes forward, starting with public hearings, information being disseminated, public opinion forming, and evaluation being done by representatives and the people, we will get to a point where a decision ill be made.
This can be an amazingly democratic process

(1,898 posts)She's right that the parallels to 1974 align well. I'm sure, though, that her words were tempered by the insider's view of her husband's impeachment.
I can't think of anyone offering a better endorsement of Speaker Pelosi's approach than HRC. She did Nancy a favor. Good for her.
