White House: Trump 'not inclined' to release tax returns as congressional deadline looms

Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Donald Trump is unlikely to hand over his tax returns to lawmakers despite a Tuesday congressional deadline facing the Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service, a White House spokesman said on Tuesday.

"As I understand it, the president's pretty clear: Once he's out of audit, he'll think about doing it, but he's not inclined to do so at this time," White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told Fox News in an interview.

Representative Richard Neal, Democratic chairman of the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, requested six years of Trump's individual and business returns on April 3 and has set a final deadline of 5 p.m. EDT (2100 GMT) on Tuesday, informing IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig in a letter that failure to comply would be viewed as a denial.

Failure to meet the congressional deadline could mire the administration and lawmakers in a lengthy legal fight.

The house has to have an enforcement mechanism for anytime that anyone in the administration say NO to a direct legal request or a subpoena. This playing the court battle game has got to quit. They're just running the clock until ?, just tying up our effort while they undermine another part of our democracy. Why can't we throw them in jail? or fine them?? or what's going to motive them do follow the law?

Where i come from in NC, the law says you shall not use, have, or deal in illegal drugs. If you do, guess what: you don't argue with the police about your interpretation of the statute, you don't bring up a court case challenging the law if you get caught, YOU GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL ! Why don't these bastards have to play by the same rules?
