It may take 2 years to identify thousands of separated families, government says

Source: CNN

(CNN)It could take up to two years for the government to identify potentially thousands of additional immigrant families US authorities separated at the southern border, officials said in a court filing.

The government's proposed plan, detailed for the first time in documents filed late Friday night, outlines a strategy for piecing together exactly who might have been separated by combing through thousands of records using a mix of data analysis and manual review.

The court filing comes a year after a memo from then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions officially created the administration's "zero tolerance" policy, which eventually led to the separation of thousands of immigrant families. While a federal court order forced the reunification of many of those families, an explosive government watchdog report in January revealed there could be thousands more who hadn't previously been acknowledged by officials.

And a federal judge last month ruled that this group should be included in the class-action lawsuit over family separations.

That's ANOTHER two years, on top of the time -- more than a year -- these children have already been separated from their parents.

You imply that these innocent children are somehow guilty of breaking the law ?? Is it their mere existence that bothers you or the fact that their parents were trying to provide them with a safer, better quality of life ?

You may leave now.

The word "prisoners" does not suggest innocence or guilt; it denotes imprisonment.

I'm getting a little tired of the Left doing this: (1) Person A says something; (2) Person B immediately seeks out the worst possible interpretation, over which to become hostile and indignant; (3) others dogpile on Person A for [s]dressing like that[/s] using the "wrong" word when in fact they did nothing wrong whatsoever.

Leave that anti-thinking nonsense to the teabaggers.

there are many innocent prisoners, all over the world.

if we allow them to be caged we must have a system to ifrntify them.

Nobody could possibly be that stupid.

You assign the same ID number to all family members and add a unique qualifier number, such as 1-2-3-4 etc. You also take a photograph of each family as they are entered into the system. It is not rocket science and yet nobody could think of such simple precautions? People aren't that stupid but they can be that vile.

Sunday Schools and Chucky Cheese keep better track of kids.

This must be deliberate, because we have these things called computers that are real good at keeping track of data.
