Rolling Stones postpone tour on doctor's orders

Source: CNN

London (CNN)British rock band The Rolling Stones announced the postponement of an upcoming North American tour.
The band will not be embarking on a 17-gig tour, scheduled to start on April 20 in Miami, due to singer Mick Jagger's health problems.
"Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment," reads a statement from the band.
Jagger, 75, made his own apology to fans on his personal Twitter account.

might be my last chance. Then I finally saw them in 1994 on the Voodoo Lounge tour at Seattle. I had great seats too, thanks to advance sales to Budweiser distributors. Anheuser-Busch sponsored the tour and I worked at a little distributor in Idaho. It was an awesome show! Way better set selection for my taste than a few videos of other tours I've seen. Like I picked 90% of it myself, and at one time, they were by far my favorite band. Still are top probably, but not by as much.

A few years back a buddy got to go to the "Bridges to Babylon" show. He was a little skeptical, but I assured him that if they were doing it again, it would be worth going. I hope Mick just needs a little help and can go again. He won't if he can't do it right.

While in Chicago for three appearances on 19 and 20 June, the group stayed at Hugh Hefner's original Playboy Mansion in the Gold Coast district

...at the International Amphitheater.

The opening act was Stevie Wonder.

The '72 American Tour was also when the movie "Cocksucker Blues" was filmed.

Here's the Wikipedia entry on it:

as we were on the main floor, stage right, maybe 25 rows back, when a riot started. Cops came flooding as I shepherded my younger brother and his two pals out the door. Scary too as some idiots started throwing folded-up steel chairs like frisbees at fellow concert goers. Not the Stones greatest event, for sure.

using a walker and wheeling an oxygen tank behind him would be sort of a turnoff to the fans. There comes a time in every rock band's life when it's time to hang up the spandex tights. Now it's off to the old rocker's nursing home with many of the other greats. They can't possibly need the money at this stage of their lives. Time to give it up boys.

He was 87 on his last concert tour -

(he died 3 years later at 90 - would have been 91 if he made it 7 months later)

56 years earlier -

There are musicians who just like to play. It is their life!

his father made him finish his education. He has an accounting degree from a college in London. His father, an accountant, insisted he complete his education, in case "this music thing does not work out" he would have something to fall back on!! Famous last words, eh? Imagine Mick working in an office, as an accountant!
