Roger Stone spared from jail but given strict gag order after admitting 'stupidity' of his rifle sco

Source: New York Daily News

Roger Stone dodged this bullet with his tail between his legs.

A federal judge spared the Trump-loving political trickster from jail and allowed him to remain free on bond Thursday after he confessed to the “stupidity” of his posting a photo on social media featuring her face next to an apparent rifle scope crosshair.

But Judge Amy Berman Jackson made clear in no uncertain terms that she didn’t buy Stone’s desperate apologies and imposed a strict gag order barring him from speaking publicly in any shape or form about Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Judge Berman just let every trump crime syndicate suspect and every magat kook out there know that they can get away with this kind of bullshit with a slap on the wrist.

What the fuck has happened to this country?

Rule of law my ass.

...Berman would have to recuse herself from all proceedings against Stone.

That may have been what he was attempting to do with his stunt.

They asked for the gag order, and they got it. I am betting that Stone will soon violate the gag order, though, and in that case the prosecutor will ask for Stone to be jailed and it will happen.

His apologies were hollow (and desperate) and the judge knew that. She also understood the meanings of the symbolism and the word choice and what he had hoped to accomplish.

Do they offer padded shoulders and pinstripes as an option with the ORANGE JUMPSUITS he'll be wearing?

I suppose he is an example of the type of people who support Trump. It really is outrageous that a person of his caliber is even allowed to be out and about without a custodian and a leash.

I sincerely hope there is no blood shed as a result. Judge Berman needs protection. This deal is a powder keg. Goddamit, Stone should be in jail yesterday.

He will, of course, do or say something fucked up, and then he can be quickly shepherded off to prison with the reminder that the judge clearly told him, in front of his own self and the world, not to do that.

Sending him to jail at this point would let him position himself as a martyr to the deep state, so I'm glad that didn't happen - yet.

Not handing the defense a reason to demand a change in judges, or appeal a guilty verdict.

Seeing him jailed now might be satisfying but in the long term we want him in prison for a considerable amount of time.

He will screw this deal up, and he will be carted off to prison immediately when he does.

It disappoints me that he wasn't thrown in jail for threatening a judge's life. But I guess there was enough "wiggle room" to assert that he wasn't really doing that. Now she"s told him to stop talking about the case, period, in any forum. He will not be able to do that.

That way, when she gives him 20 with parole after 18, it won't look like she's on a personal vendetta.
