Frozen strawberry shipment from Mexico contained $12.7 million worth of meth, authorities say

Source: USA Today

A commercial shipment of frozen strawberries coming from Mexico contained $12.7 million worth of methamphetamine, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Tuesday.

The alleged drug-smuggling operation was discovered at the cargo facility at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge in southern Texas on Feb. 16, a release says. Officers found 906 pounds of the drug concealed in a trailer, CBP says.

An analysis of data from the southern border indicates the vast majority of narcotics enter through U.S. ports of entry.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection statistics, 87 percent of methamphetamine seized along the border in the first 11 months of the 2018 fiscal year was caught trying to be smuggled in at legal crossing points.

Who believes the U.S.A. Today? It needs to come from Pravda or RT.

I bet that truck made a right turn, then a left turn, or was it vice versa, then drove right through the big hole in the fence, er I mean wall.

When will they learn to drive their 18-wheelers through the rivers and desert where there is no wall?

Apparently, the wall system used now is working fine. It funnels the largest shipments through legal points of entry where it can be seized.

No more fu*king wall.

Hidden in shipments of food, etc. And in many cases, if possible, in shipments of products that mask the drug's scent from the dogs.

Meth is cheap to produce and such an awful drug, right up there with heroine.

I'm kind of surprised they are making it in Mexico and hauling it here. Seems like a pretty big risk. They inspect about 1/3 of all big trucks.

It's pretty damn depressing when you learn how much power and resources the Mexican cartels have at their disposal.

For a couple of hours at least. That's if the opioids don't bring them down from the meth high sooner than expected.

magat territory. lol They're upset because no one cares about them so they take a 21st century speedball to make themselves feel better after they blew up the world with trump.

This should take care of all their problems. One way or the other.

This is dastardly.

They undoubtedly used the border crossing as a ruse, willing to forfeit more than $12 million in drugs so that hundreds of people carrying drugs will cross by climbing walls and braving concertina wire to bring in drugs worth far more. That's why we need a wall! Wow, the buffoon-in-chief may be onto something.

Or, more likely, he's a fucking moron.

Oh, through legal ports of entry! Who'da thunk it?
