The March for Life wants you, Democrats, but it's hard when your party has become so extreme

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

On Friday, pro-lifers from around the world will stream to the Mall in D.C. for the annual March for Life. Protecting human life is a value that transcends the political divide, and people of all political affiliations have come since the March began decades ago.

But that diversity has become threatened in recent years, a problem caused by leaders of the Democratic Party who have grown unwelcoming toward pro-life positions and candidates.

As president of the March, I can say we hope and pray this will change. Or I should say change back to an earlier time, when abortion wasn’t as partisan an issue for political parties.

We long for more leaders like Democrat Robert Casey Sr., the late former governor of Pennsylvania who famously enforced the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act in the Supreme Court case Planned Parenthood v. Casey. We also welcome current elected officials such as Rep. Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.), who was snubbed by his own party for his pro-life views while running for reelection.

They are also liars.and frauds. Their beliefs are religious and their real purpose is to impose their religion and their minority views on others.

Pro-life is a myth.

The supposed pro-lifers cared naught when the state of Texas (republican gov, republican Prez) deliberately killed living baby Sun Hudson against the mother's wishes because he was an inconvenience to the state.

It is not a matter of life to the supposed pro-lifers.

It is a matter of control.

we respect woman’s right to privacy with her doctor. Those people are not pro-life, they are pro-birth; there is a huge difference. We are the party who seeks reduction in pregnancy terminations by expanding sex education, access to contraceptives, universal healthcare, etc.
To any pro-birth members on DU (if they exist), I would say this: those people won’t stop at banning abortion, they will seek to restrict access to contraception and continue on a path making women unequal. This fight was never about life, it is about womens role in society. If men could get pregnant, this would never become an issue or even a discussion.
Also, the moment those people are able to swing RW justices to their side, would mean that a woman who is unable to get safe abortion in the US must travel to Canada to do that; she would be a subject to manslaughter charges upon return.

USSR at one point expermented with banning abortion after WWII when they needed to boost births. The result was - huge countrywide infertility problems due to massive number of unsafe abortions. Even in today’s authoritarian russia, abortion remains legal and I think it is for that reason (history).

view (religious belief) enacted in law.

I consider myself to be pro-life for innocent children in Syria and Gaza and anti-gun and anti-death penalty. I also believe every woman on the planet should be able to decide whether or not she wants to bear a child.

The Dem Party does not support pro-life positions, which are really anti-abortion positions (not pro-life), and never has, that I recall.

@OP. If you don't like abortion, then don't have one.

Also, you should be making it easier for women to get access to birth control. That alone will help reduce the number of abortions.
