Rubio admits GOP tax cut is a bust: ‘No evidence that money’s been poured back into the American worker’

BRAD REED

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) voted in favor of the Republican Party’s massive tax cut late last year — but now he says that there’s little evidence that handing out big breaks to corporations has significantly trickled down to American workers.

Talking with The Economist, Rubio criticizes his party for believing that large corporate tax cuts will inevitably produce windfalls for workers in the United States — and he says that so far, we haven’t seen very many corporations using their additional money to invest in their employees.

“There is still a lot of thinking on the right that if big corporations are happy, they’re going to take the money they’re saving and reinvest it in American workers,” Rubio tells the publication. “In fact they bought back shares, a few gave out bonuses; there’s no evidence whatsoever that the money’s been massively poured back into the American worker.” Rubio also hinted that neither the GOP’s tax cut plan nor Trump’s protectionism will do much to help workers who are seeing more and more jobs disappear thanks to automation and technology.

“I have no problem with bringing back American car-manufacturing facilities, but, whether they’re American robots or Mexican robots, they’re going to be highly automated,” he explains. “My relatives are firefighters and nurses and teachers and electricians. These are people who are not all that excited about the new economy.”

Every economist said so before the vote. If he really cared about his relatives who have real jobs but won't benefit from the tax scam, then why did he vote for it? He is either a liar or too stupid for words. I vote for liar.

in just a couple of years. Ronnie Raygun's failed experiment where he cut taxes and increased spending has not been learned by the GOP. So, here we go again, I guess it's time to cut welfare and school funding.

One certain segment of the economy. The rich always get a lot richer with the GOP in charge. They get a lot richer with Democrats in charge as well, but without all the lies, distortion, and outright theft from all other Americans.

How these bastards sleep at night is far beyond my imagination.

all designed to reward the wealthy, while draining the money out of our pockets. Just like with the ACA they've done nothing but do things that'll destroy it to, and Rubio and them all were also part of that, now they say its premiums will go up 90% in the next 2-3 years. Now they've set their sights on destroying Medicare and Social Security , and they are already doing things to undermine them working now. Rubio is a joke, trying to act like he didn't know , and he shouldn't be held accountable, when he's the problem, along with trump and the rest of the republicans . They could care less about anyone but themselves, and their wealthy donors.

He'll say something totally different next week, and flip back another 180 the following week.

Why? Because he doesn't care. He likes being a Senator (though he hated it back in 2016) and he'll do whatever it takes to keep on being a Senator.

He's a puppet understuffed with rancid sawdust, folding and flopping to please as he drifts from fundraiser to fundraiser, bending with each little shift in the wind.

Unfortunately they will learn AFTER November, that it's one more piece of the scam. The IRS directed employers to reduce withholding by an unreasonable amount. I jacked mine right back up.

I am astounded that he actually believed the Republican pick-up line.

Maybe his eyes are opening to the reality around him. I wouldn't count on it, but there is always hope.
