Comedian Michelle Wolf says it's "cowardly" for Trump to skip Correspondents' dinner

Source: CBS News

Comedian Michelle Wolf has grabbed the spotlight through her success in stand-up and her regular role on "The Daily Show." On Saturday night, she takes the stage at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner.

<snip>

"Does that make it better for you as a comedian or harder for you that the president is not there? Would you rather the president be in the room?" CBS News' Jamie Wax asked Wolf.

"I like making fun of people to their face more than anything, like, more than behind their back," she said. "It's nicer to make fun of someone when they're there."

"I think it's cowardly not to go," she said. "I think it's-- the only other person that didn't go was Reagan when he was shot. And he called in."

Hell yes it's cowardly. Spanky's skin is far too thin to be involved in politics.

Trumpy's unifying principle throughout his entire life can be summed up in one word: Revenge. Every time he tweets, he seeks revenge against anyone who defies his megalomania, his extreme narcissism. Any reasonable person can look at his general behavior patterns and wonder how his fragile emotional state can EVER survive an evening of open and humorous ridicule. We can imagine that Trumpy would just sit there and take notes on whose lives he'll be ruining. That's a lot of work, but when it comes to revenge, Trumpy is always up to the task.

A sort of roast thrown for the correspondence corps. They'd get fed, the president would get roasted (and even participate in a bit of self-mockery).

A roast is a " banquet to honor a person at which the honoree is subjected to good-natured ridicule."

Used to be that the few who didn't abide by the rules and engaged in mean-spirited ridicule weren't all that well received.

It grew a decided edge a few election cycles back. And then grew nasty. Depending on if the correspondents liked or loathed the president. Even self-mockery came to be seen as expressing the *real* truth, and was deemed offensive. Without the president there, it's just a chance for correspondents to play to each other and show the depth of their admiration or contempt. It's stopped being useful for any other purpose.

Going for good natured ridicule is fine. Going when you know the ridicule will be real--and increasingly less restrained and sharp-edged--seems insane.

Nope, I'm not buying it. trump is a chickenshit motherfucker, the ultimate snowflake. He's not entitled to "good natured ridicule." I hope he's savaged at that dinner, tonight.

not really impressed with her show tonight.

Though the sour looks on Kellyanne's and Sarah's faces make me think she's hitting some sore spots.

And not funny either. He couldn't possibly show up and be entertaining like Obama was. And he knows it.
That's why he didn't show up and won't ever show up at the WHCD.

Go check the video of him "performing" at the Al Smith dinner in NY. Then you'll know why he can't show...

Talentless douchebag.
